Just like watching Barca......

The fist 25 minutes was phenomenal but it's no use playing for 25 then easing off for the rest. Most games we don't turn up for 20 minutes then boss it then in other games we're like Barcelona for 25 and swansealona for the rest

A lot of people seem to be missing the point. The point being that for 25 minutes we were tearing Chelsea apart and any comparison to Barca is appropriate for that period.

The rest of the game, that's another story but if we can do it for 25 minutes then we should be able to sustain it for a full match. I'm confident we can get there now, just need to understand what went wrong and put the fix in.........

I'm reminded of the comment by Barry Fry once "The first half we played like Juventus, the second half we played like Fray Bentos" (although we weren't that bad after we lost our way a bit)

Guys, we were never going to have a mind set and play Barca style football wihtin a year. Barca just ooze with confidence, that's why after being down 1-0 after 2 minutes they just didn't give a fuck at El Classico. They know they are top dog and know they will out score a team like Real Madrid.

We are getting there and it was proven within the first 25 minutes. It was jaw dropping football, cos we were just too much class for Chelsea. We are a new team, and it will take probably a little longer as a team to start playing a full 90 mins like we did for 25 mins.

It's gonna fookin great when we watch a full game like Barca play, PL team will shit it!

There, I've said it.

The first 25 minutes of last night my jaw was dropping and my mouth was just hanging open. The passing and movement were just amazing to watch and we seriously could have had 3 goals (one a pen) in that part of the game. Our forwards were pressing all over their half and our FBs were right up the field just like Barca. This was against a team which was one of the main tips for the title this season (definitely Top 4). C'mon, playing Chelsea at home and they were playing like a championship side at the Etihad trying to nick a goal, which they did.

The problem, we took our foot off the pedal and kept trying to push it too hard when they retreated back to their 18 yard line. For some reason we stopped the high pressing game, maybe because they dropped so deep, maybe fitness, maybe complacency or over-confidence - I'm not sure which. In hindsight, probably we should have played it around the centre circle and forced them to come out to us. We were 1-0 up at the time and it was up to them to try and force the goal but we kept losing possession trying to force our way through a 10 man defence and let them build up their confidence.

I still think this City team has another gear they can step up into, one that we saw last night for the first 25 minutes. BM needs to sit the players down with a "before and after" dvd of those first 25 minutes and find out what went wrong and put the fix in. What I want to see is that 25 minutes sustained over a full match (or as near as possible) and I think it's going to start happening sooner rather than later.

I'm looking forward to the next few years with a big grin on my face even after losing last night.

Spoke to a rag mate today, he asked if we had played like that much this season, I said it was our nromal style, he was amazed.

Those first 25 minutes were as good as I have seen from any side in this country, let alone a City side. I think if that Aguero shot had gone in we would have gone on to annihilate Chelsea.

That said, it is a concern that this has happened a couple of times now, dropping points at Anfield, Bayern and Chelsea when we could/should have been out of sight. Only to concede a goal and our game completely fall apart. That's a mentality thing more than anything and it will come. But it's still disappointing.

Overall though we have clearly seen what kind of football we are capable of. And it's of an incredibly high standard. Now we just need to mix that with consistency.

Good article along similar lines

My dipper cousan said in his opinion that first 25 mins was even better than Barca.... Shame about the rest of the game
