What do you mean like something out of a cartoon strip? I had boots just like them. Used to buy studs from the Walco near the Playhouse corner of Queens and Oldham Rd.
Why we needed studs I don't know because we played on the Red Rec , Monsall St and carpet slippers would have been better. I graduated to a pair of Continental boots in the mid fifties, which were indeed like the fore mentioned carpet slippers.
