Someone sets fire to the house tomorrow it isn’t climate change to blame, it’s the arsonist.

Normally when a house burns down you don’t usually lose a whole town. We’re seeing more and more of that these days whether it’s Hawaii this year or large areas of eastern Australia last year.

The vast majority do. Autoignition would need some quite unusual conditions and specific materials to be in the same place.

I’m not no but it seems some want to blame every single fire on climate change which is equally as fucking silly.

Take the horrific fires in Hawaii for instance, growing evidence is suggesting many fires where started by badly maintained electrical poles and lines arcing and lawsuits are being put together against the local utility companies responsible.

Sure the brush was dry and yes the winds high but those are entirely natural phenomena and sadly, it’s all ended tragically but whilst climate change might be a contributing factor, ie drought and storm force winds if they are out of the ordinary for that area and time of season, it’s needed poorly maintained services to actually cause the blazes, something that can’t be blamed on climate change.

Balance and the facts are needed.

Agree. This isn’t a subject that should be confined to one or the other and neither should it be debated as so, it’s that serious.

We’ve known about this stuff for many years, I’ve been aware since being a kid, yet we always buried our head in the sand because 50 years were oh so far away. For a while now, I’ve looked and, with children and grandchildren, realised that we are mere custodians of this fragile environment and it’s time for us to act as the adults and bring ourselves to account.

I‘m willing to, do our politicians and profit makers feel the same.

Are you saying that all these fires, landslides, flooding, et al, are nothing to do with our climate warming? Genuine question as I’d like to know the alternative for what is happening in the world.

I referenced these particular fires, man made and then used by the wailers and when it is found out to be untrue the insults come.

Our climate is changing and yet there are still liars and charlatans trying to score points.
