Just Stop Oil protests

Instead of being objective and a bit childish, can you tell everyone - like many have said on here... How do we go from mass fossil fuel consumption to renewables in such a short time frame? The infrastructure involved is almost impossible. The JSO brigade have their agenda but no plan on how all this is executed. We know what their aim is, but is it realistic or even achievable? Without the backing of the other huge oil consuming countries like USA, India, China, Russia their efforts are pretty much diluted.

Me as a mere citizen on this planet just accept the facts that it's a task beyond the realms of reality (well in my lifetime and probably my kids lifetime). You may disagree but that's the way I guess most people feel looking at the last few pages on this forum.
Why is it such a small time frame? Because people like you have put up obstacles. The simple fact is the more it gets pushed the quicker we will get there. The people who can do it need pushing all the fucking time. Has history shown you nothing?

How's whinging about people trying to speed things up helpful. If they fail what have you lost,?

A couple of years back a fast vaccine was unheard of. But when rich and powerful people could catch a virus that could kill them suddenly miracles happened.

It's like people are unaware how governments work but more likely its they don't want the hassle and inconvenience of major change.

That's why personally I couldn't care less how annoying you find protesters. You deserve it tbh. You are getting off lightly, we all are. Your kids not so much but hey ho the planet will end some day said a pillock earlier.

What if selfish arseholes hadn't ignored shit for decades and we would have less traffic so all ambulances would get there quicker.

What if the air was cleaner so kids didn't choke. What if less pollutants meant less cancer.

What about wildfires and heat killing people.

What about all the species of animals that...........

You get the general idea yes? Funny what some of you attempt to moralise about because of some protesters eh?
Lets just hope it doesn't happen to a family member of yours god for bid but it seems you're all for these cunts stopping emergency vehicles going about there business.

But you’d also think they’re massive cunts?
Yes. My hospital is private and quite tucked away so I’ll take my chances that I’m unlikely to bump into any of them anytime soon

My whole point since my first post on the subject was my belief that a right to protest is an enormous part of democracy and should be respected. I might agree with some of the causes and disagree with others. I might respect the way they go about their protest or think they’re utter cunts depending on what they’re doing, but I’ll always believe they have the right to begin with.

If it was me I would swerve to change lane even though I was on a different carriageway than the protests and risk colliding with the van right next to me. If I got my door stoved in I'd blame it on the protestors and go and assault one of them then sit back and accept all the plaudits from the triggered masses - job done.

That works both ways.

Let's hope it's not a member of yours from what I listed. Seems like you're all for these cunts destroying your families environment.

Get as personal as you want. Maybe not look so hypocritical doing it though eh?

There's a difference to getting things done when you need an agreement with other governments..

The UK could go fossil fuel free tomorrow. Without the backing of the US, China, India and Russia - the difference we will make is a tear drop in the ocean. But we can all happily wave our little JSO flags.

And comparing a mass vaccine production to eliminating/cutting down (or whatever narrative you are using) mass oil consumption is like comparing apples to oranges. The infrastructure was already in place for the vaccine to happen. We already had laboratories and scientists etc....

And good luck with pushing governments in places like China and Russia. Cross the road on red in Russia and you'd be beaten and locked up.

And yes.. The planet will end some day. Hundrerds of thousands of years in the future.

With or without oil!

Climate change is apparently happening now, the damage is being done supposedly and that’s due to fossil fuels that we use every day. We can’t stop searching for new exploration, there’s not enough renewable energy resources to run the planet now and I doubt there ever will be. When you factor the world population is only growing, how the fuck do you solve the issue?

Right but if we can limit it to 1.5 or even 2 degrees compared to 3 or 4 then the difference is huge.

You do it by investing more in renewable energy and research into replacements knowing that it isn’t going to be a cut over but the longer we delay that investment or research then the problem only grows. Just look what they’re doing in China now.

What do you think their aim is?
