Just Stop Oil protests

Thing with this is, there's always an element of hypocrisy to it. Realistically, how many of those attending these "sit ins" got to the location without the means of oil? Did they all walk from the four corners of the country without transport? The food they consume, all delivered by lorries to supermarkets they shop in. How many of them use gas hobs to cook their food. The electricity that powers their homes, kept ticking over by engineers who drive to specific locations using, you guessed it, vehicles fuelled by oil. Where do they draw that line in the sand?

Admittedly, becoming carbon neutral is something we should strive for, but it's going to have to happen piecemeal. Whether the protesters like it or not, fossil fuels continue to keep the world turning; imagine an athlete running a marathon and then coming to a complete stop when he hits 26 miles, without any cool down, it would fuck his body up beyond belief. The same analogy can be applied to oil usage, if it all stopped tomorrow society would stop functioning. "Just Stopping Oil" is a logistical impossibility. It's moronic, and frankly selfish. Oil consumption needs to be reduced gradually whilst the infrastructure for renewable, cleaner energy usage widens.

These aresholes are achieving nothing other than angering commuters and adversely affecting livelihoods. They are setting out to cause mass disruption, thus they are no better than those they claim to be fighting against. They can fuck off.

And before anyone retorts with some inane equivalence, it's not even remotely comparable to attending a football match.

Grey haired liberals who live in big houses with fat pensions need to have something to do with their free time, what better to do than to sneer at everyone trying to work and prevent them from going about their business.

Should really find out where they live and block their roads busy cunts.

Whereas grey authoritarians who live in two up two downs with shit pensions need to have something to do with their free time. What better to do than sneer at people trying to do their best to save the planet whilst adding a few minutes to someone’s journey. (Not theirs though, they’re gnashing teeth whilst curtain twitching and tutting at what the world has become)

There‘s no point finding out where they live as they don’t go out and just negatively socially commentate from behind their keyboards.

they obviously feel as a society we are not moving fast enough
that the government are not moving fast enough
civil disobedience as protest and to raise awareness has a long and proud history

I have no problem at all with what they are doing
Its part of free speech, its part of freedom and part of democracy

He's an ex-serviceman so don't believe the crap about pensions.

Edit. Correction.
