Juventus (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

Not refreshing the squad with top quality players is now catching up with us big time. A shadow of the team that won the treble this season hinges on an unlikely fa cup win, forget the rest.
You’re more then likely pissed

Walker aside because he's lost the only thing he had, Bernie for me has been the worst. One of the most talented players but not offering anything this season. Surely McAtee could play that role to freshen things up.
Well his speed is waning. But his awareness has fallen off a cliff. I just rewatched the second goal and Walker and Gundogan are half speed trying to get back to McKinnie. Gvardiol is also a bit guilty. He sees and looks back to see McKinnie coming in but tracks to the ball even though Lewis has got the dribbler and Dias has position on the 2nd attacker. But Gvardiol goes to him anyway and McKinnie is in behind for a free one. Its all a bit out of sorts at the moment. We simply look tired.

Walker was never getting back in that situation, he was supporting the attack, then Dopey Doku lost possession again and they broke and played the ball in the position where we’ve been caught out repeatedly… over to where our left back should have been. Gvardiol, Doku & Lewis were the ones culpable for the goals
It is very hard to blame individuals at this point. We need to get back to basics and play deeper. The entire team is playing suicidally high up the pitch and as people are getting on a bit (to use on old cliché) they are not tracking back.

If we win the last home game then only 2 teams outside the qualifying places can finish above us - PSG and Stuttgart.

Looking at that table you’d have to image 11 points would be enough - but 12 (win and a draw) would make it a smoother experience…

Might as well be Celtic

Pep is the only solution to our problems.
A minimum of two key signings in January ( Defensive Midfield, Centre Back ) can stop the situation from getting worse and results will stabilise.
If Haaland puts away his chance tonight we don't lose that game. Chasing the game was always going to be difficult.
By the way The penalty not given at the end is a disgraceful decision by the referee.

Gvardiol is currently playing at centre back( left side). He's playing out of position. We have lost Akanji, Ake and Stones to injury. Lose 3 Centre backs in a world class team and there will be huge problems.
Lewis is playing out of position.
We also don't have a defensive midfield.
Losing Bobb adds to the seeming catastrophe. But Pep has only 13 outfield players available. Yet we turned in a reasonable performance tonight all things considered. Had we scored in the first half things may have been different. Ilkay says we lose confidence when we play great at one end and let one in at the other end. That's true but he also says we are not far off from clicking. I hope he is right.
People can be far too critical of City right now.
Let's hope we can turn it around at the weekend.

Agree with all this.

Starting to think getting knocked out can save our season, 1 game a week to get players fit, rest up & win the World Cup.
Pep thanks 1-3 points will secure a play off place. That means more matches. He's still keen on being competitive. That's fair enough but we do need at least 2 quality signings in January to totally stop the bleeding.
