Everybody has up to seven days to 'self-certify' with illness. After that, proof of sickness is required by the employer, which can be signed off by any medical practitioner. That's for us mere mortals, the rules for pro-footballers might be different. There's a nasty cough lurgy going round at the moment, 2-3 weeks for most people I know, so I've no reason to doubt what Foden had/has.
Guess you missed the winky face dickhead.

Some bonkers comments on here. Finishing in the top 8 is still possible and those two fewer games will be much more beneficial to us finishing in the top 4.

The rags are away tomorrow in a game they have to win as they're flopping in the Europa. We are still making stupid errors with and without the ball, much better to find some consistency and confidence ahead of the derby than throw this game.

It's going to be incredibly difficult for us to win the league, but stay in the CL and anything could happen come the knockouts.
Everyone been moaning about injuries and players missing for months,

Now some players are back and in the team they are still moaning about players starting!

YCMIU.

Exactly!

Still a chance to finish top 8 but equally still a chance we don't make the knockouts so we have to go strong. Great boost ahead of the derby if we put in a performance tonight.

And the weaknesses in our team can't be addressed because alternative players aren't available.

They would wrap Kevin in cotton wool if they felt it necessary. Arguably they did that for the previous month or so and he is now ready to go and play consistently. If Foden or Kovacic can play any part tonight/Sunday I am sure he will come off and get some rest. If we played yesterday he might not have started but the extra day helps.

I disagree with that - 2 significant weaknesses (FB play and physicality in midfield) could definitely be addressed by players on the bench. Not surprised Pep hasn't as he continues to want to play Gundo, Bernardo, Lewis & Walker, but it could definitely be addressed.

Yildiz is such a good player need to stop him tonight. Wouldn't mind us trying to get him from Juve in the summer.

I honestly don’t believe that Pep “wants” to keep playing Gundo but he really has no choice. In the absence of Rodri and Kovacic there’s not a lot of options for DM in the squad. Similarly, if he had a fully fit squad available to him I doubt Pep would be playing Lewis so much.
