Juventus (N) | CWC | Post Match Thread

It seemed weird watching a City match when the predominant accent was American. Funnily it seemed even stranger coming from the Juve fans who were mainly Italian Americans. Some good banter between the fans. Strangest of all was probably the sight of a couple of fans wearing United shirts in among City fans

The rags could only dream of being in this competition. Looks like City have already pocketed £40,000,000.

This competition is massive for everyone in Asia, Middle East, Far Asia and especially South America and Mexico.

The typical British destain for anything invented by " Johnny foreigner" is still alive and well!!!!

The whole City organisation is enjoying the USA. Having worked there for a lot of my time between 1989 and 2008 I can tell you the 6 star accommodation and welcoming attention from Americans for Brits will be something totally different from their sojourns to the odd stay over for a ECL game or odd WC or EC qualifier!

These lads are enjoying it qand their families and partners are there too.

One thing Pep Ljinders brings back is the demand to press and the exploitation of pace on the wings. Yesterday, We were back to our relentlessness with our press and our midfield dominance with Rodri Reinjders and Bernie. It was like watching City of old

And we'll lose Ait-Nouri and Marmoush to the AFCON in Devember and January.
Gvardiol for Ait Nouri and Phil /Bobb/ Nunes even Reindeer can take the role of Marmoush behind Haaland. We did very good business this window and we still haven't factored in Reis and Khusanov, if Pep tries either one as a fullback and they put in a decent performance, Nunes becomes another option that can play up the pitch.

For me it's pre-season. I don't agree with the competition but by the time it's finished the players are going to be given time off so they'll be no time for a proper pre season.
I get that also, but there is a cup at stake here in a fifa competition. If/when we win it, is it the first cup of this season or the last cup of last season?

I know for a fact “the club” want to win this trophy. Im sure the $ matters but they want that gold badge front n centre on the shirt

I was thinking after last night's game, who and how Pep is going to reduce this squad. It's going to be a nightmare for players having to leave, Stones Bobb Kovacic Grealish Gundogan Lewis Ake Walker Phillips Mcatee will be the ones

I think I counted 34 players we have and Pep wants 17 first-team players and maybe youth and squad players, making up the 25 players we need to finalise both Premier League and Champions League list

Absolutely no chance Bobb, Lewis or Ake leave.

Played well

But still don’t know if we were so good or Juventus were not that good but either way good results will build confidence for matches to come and season ahead and new players will get good chance to bed in

The muppets on DAZN kept going on about how we haven’t beaten the Italian rags since 1976.

They failed to mention that we’d only played them seven times, before yesterday, and the fact that for most of the intervening years, Juventus had a far greater monetary advantage over us than we might now have over them.

The commentators/pundits told us that Erling's latest goal was his 33rd of the season, so I’m going with the 24/25 season still in progress.

I haven’t forgotten about the injuries, it’s obvious to anyone how much injuries hampered us over the season.
But our squad had aged badly.
We had next to fuck all creativity cos everything we did was at a snails pace.
We had the same problem defensively.
We couldn’t do the fundamentals of a Pep team.
Hard work with and without the ball.
I disagree that without the injuries we’d be competing for the league.
It was inevitable we’d hit the wall eventually.
We also wasn’t the only ones to suffer injuries, which ended up with a very poor league overall.
Yep without the injuries we’d have been better but so would other teams too.
Mental fatigue was also a huge factor, IMHO.

The intensity needed to win four in a row, as well as the Treble, must have taken its toll.
