Kakà - the Italian perspective

It is clear that City are pressing hard. This report is on the Mediaset website (for those who don't know, Mediaset is the media empire owned by Silvio Berlusconi):
<a class="postlink" href="http://www.sportmediaset.it/mercato/articoli/articolo19676.shtml" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.sportmediaset.it/mercato/art ... 9676.shtml</a>

The gist of this article is that City had serious discussions with the Milan hierarchy, with heads of terms being a fee of €100m (which I guess more or less equates to the £100m being reported over here given current exchange rates) and a wage of €15m per year - NET!

It's quite a detailed report saying that Cook, 2 of the Sheikh's aides and Joorabchian as a mediator were present as well as Galliani, Milan' sporting director and head honcho and advisor Ernesto Bronzetti. Milan are seriously entertaining the offer (in fact one could guess as much from the fact that Galliani agreed to meet Cook - there's no way he'd do that unless it was a real possibility)

The fact that this appeared on Mediaset is significant given that Berlusconi is Milan's owner. It does seem to suggest that Milan/Berlusconi are at least thinking about it.

There's also this, which has been reported in UK media. It's a quotation from Silvio:
<a class="postlink" href="http://www.gazzetta.it/ultimora/agrnews.jsp?id=" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.gazzetta.it/ultimora/agrnews.jsp?id=</a>{520DAA1B-379A-4041-AF47-102DDB7861DA}&cat=calcio&sezione=CALCIO

But it is not as emphatic a denial as has been translated. He says: 'I HOPE he's untransferable and I HOPE he stays at Milan.' Not exactly an unqualified denial, is it?

Now, I have no idea whether this is going to happen. But it is clear that it's a very real possibility. Personally I think Milan want the money, but are trying to make it look as if they are resisting gallantly to avoid an uproar among their fans

interesting stuff cheers for that!

Re: Kakà - the Italian perspective

I like they way the statement just ends at, "they made their proposal."

If this wasn't going to happen it would continue with..."but it was rejected out of hand."

It reads as a resignation in my opinion.

Re: Kakà - the Italian perspective

Milan bought him for $8.5 million (about £4.25 million). They'd be stupid not to sell for 100million!

100 mill is a stupid fee really even in todays football environment. 50 - 60 mill , fair enough... but 100mill??

Madness. Kaka is amazing, but is he really worth over 3 times more than Robinho? :O

With that said, I will wank so hard, if he signs, that I will never be able to wank again!!!

I wouldn't say he'd be worth that to the top clubs, but to us yes. He brings a confidence for other players that we're not just a flash in the pan ie. Robinho signing and that something special is happening. This is priceless for us.

Spot on- other players who've (stupidly) been sceptical about 'the project' will now (if he comes) need a lot less chasing and convincing. Robinho was a statement of intent but if not followed up with another galactico it would start to look like a fcuk up on his part as the rags like to make out.

Totally agree £100 million is OTT, but imagine the revenue he would bring in ,we might even sell out.

Re: Kakà - the Italian perspective

my guess would be that what comes out in the press from Milans point of view has to be favorable as they will not be able to lose face.
