I was gutted he never came. I'd just watched the debacle v Nottingham Forest with a masterclass of inepitude from Didi. At the final whistle I turned to the fellah next to me and said "No problem, we've got Kaka next week!"

Yep. It didn't feel like it at the time but it turned out for the best in the end. It still makes me laugh that AC Milan fans thought he'd stay for years after his u-turn but as soon as the summer came he was sold to Real Madrid - for a lot less than we were prepared to pay. Not only that, Milan waited until he was out of the country on Copa America duty to do the deal with Real so the fans couldn't turn up at his apartment again en masse to protest the proposed sale like they did with us!
 
Would have been amazing to sign him at the time,he was a fantastic player so those saying we dodged a bullet are wrong just for the global exposure it would have given us alone. He knows he should have signed for us and has admitted it was the biggest mistake of his career.
 
Bryan Swanson's career hasn't exactly kicked on since all that 'Manchester City ho ho ho' business in Milan.

He can still fuck right off.
 
If Kaka is thinking this then you can guarantee there are current top-end professionals thinking it too.
 
This takes us back... the tw*t. Probably our first experience of a player, that really doesn't want to leave wanting to be valued by current club/get a slight enhancement on contract.
