Midfield option has to be Denis Zakaria, if you watch bundesliga watch monchengladbach he's a powerful athletic midfielder that scores goals, reminds me of yaya, hes powerful did really well against dortmund and leverkusen, he's gem we were linked with him I got excited he's who we need.

Chris Smalling was fast in Serie A and also proved a standout for Roma.
There's a reason Dave feels he can prolong his career by moving to Italy.
Koulibaly isn't the answer. We need a right footed centre back who plays on the right side of a two every single game.
Especially so, when we now got left sided cover for Laporte in the shape of Ake.

Don't forget Sanchez and even Ashley young looking decent over there. It is a concern with Koulibaly and right now its a gamble which might pay off but still a worry.

Yeah but Koulibably is a good start because he's quick.
However midfield is an often overlooked problem because of the high line. If we had a Kante like player, we probably won't get punished as often for having slow Central defenders.
That whole side of the house, defensive midfield and back, needs an overhauling soon:
Our midfield 'protection' does get overlooked. If anything that's been our weakness.

Possibly, but for £80m I would expect more than just being a decent leader.
Our system exposes defenders of all abilities.
Rather than spend £120m on Rodri and Cancelo, we could have solved a big issue by buying the best aggressive, mobile midfelder we had to find?
Mangala was pretty fast, but we are on hiding to nothing telling our defenders to run into 40 yards back to their own goal.
Van Dijk would look nowhere near the player in our currenr set up.
I don't have a clue who we should sign outside of the KK suggestions, it's a dying art the position.
Who would you suggest in midfield? We’ve been linked with Aouar, Bennacer and Zakaria but haven’t seen enough of the latter 2 to make any judgement. For me Pep is blinded by Gundogan’s passing and misses his lack of pace and aggression.

Here's another one. Every match I've pulled up so far, Koulibably is always top 2 or top 3 in speed for Napoli.

Completely agree. I feel like until the Pep alters the suicidal high line that we've been deploying, continuously buying some of the world's most expensive defenders isn't going to fix the root of the issue.
Teams will sit back and continue to ping the ball over the top with joy and having an £80m Koulibaly may snuff out some of the danger with his pace, but he'll still be made to look like a donkey on many an occasion and we'll be having this exact some conversation about how our defensive reinforcements haven't worked, because the issues we have aren't just due to personnel, but also system based.
It won't happpen under Pep, because possession is king in his eyes, but some our best football with him has come when we've played as a counter attacking unit with blistering pace on the break.

If you drop the high line you lose the pressing, you lose the pinning the teams in their own half, you lose the intricate football in tight spaces and the rapid attacks, you lose the 100+ goals a season, you lose the 70% possession, you lose control over every game, you lose the 198 points in 2 years.
That's what happens if you drop the high line. Do you still want to drop it?
