2 weeks away from season start and our CB pairing is Laporte and (Nico/Dinho/Stones/Garcia). Fuck me.We really shouldn't waste any more time on this. There is only about a month until the window closes and our history with Napoli is a major red flag. I'd rather we played it safe and brought in somebody that knows the league. I'd be very happy with Soyuncu.
It should get done. Deals do not get done over night and with the Messi saga going on we may not even be able to pass FFP with both of them. Depends if we have to pay a fee for Messi. I am sure we will know more after the Barcelona meeting.

He'll either take over the LB spot or challenge Laporte for the starting left-sided CB spot. I've never seen an elite team start with two left-footed CBs, at least not in the modern era. Besides Pep is incredibly anal about left-footed and right-footed players playing on the "correct" side of the pitch. It's possible on paper but I'm not betting on Laporte and Ake as the 1st choice CB pairing.Ake, no?

It’s concerning that we appear to have invested so much time on this transfer without any apparent sign of progress. Given who we are dealing with, you’d have thought that we would have quickly gauged the likelihood of being able to do business for an acceptable fee.
Ake is a good signing and I think he’ll do well for us, but he’ll need time to adjust. We still need a solid defender with some pace plus ideally a left-back and a CDM/CM. We’ve heard practically nothing on those latter two positions. It wouldn’t surprise me at this point if we start the season as we are.
