Kalidou Koulibaly

Not necessarily, a lot of players play there best football at 28+ till about 34-35. So many examples of it. And centre backs usually have longevity compared to players in other positions.

Koulibaly had a very difficult season and was struggling to adapt under a couple of managers. Doesn't look like a €70m+ defender.

Only struggled under Gattuso because they changed the system, he's not a hoofball system player. And played with Manolas, who had a terrible season, I'm not judging him from last season, even though he still wasn't as bad as people are making it out to be. Post restart hardly covered himself in glory but could be said for a lot of players. He is still the most ideal profile that we need. Also a leader and captain at Napoli, something Gimenez won't be for us.

Don't think he was unsettled under Carlo at all, played well, it was only towards the end when Napoli were not doing well as a team and Carlo - ADL had their issues off field that eventually resulted in his sacking.

I can find mostly positives with him, barely any negatives. The only thing I'd be wary of maybe is he fouls a lot, which obviously won't get away with as much in England.

Thrived in a system where the manager (Sarri) got sacked in his last two jobs. No real guarantee he can survive in Pep's.

Every player we want is suddenly absolute worldclass according to the forum. Torres is the biggest Spanish talent apparently too while we all know who it really is.

I think the problem is at the elite level we play at longevity is a rare thing. Look at our best defender & leader for the past decade who left at 33 saying he had left everything on the pitch and knew he had no more to give. He also didn't play every game for a spell and the drop off mainly due to injuries showed in his first year as player coach, which is why he retired - if only more players were as committed and intelligent as our Vinny. Of course there are exceptions - Ferna springs to mind, but even he showed signs of slowing down a bit last year. KK would have to play in a league that is far faster than the Italian league - physically he looks immense but it's also about speed of thought which is why some incredible players make fundamental mistakes. When you face younger forwards week in week out it takes a special player to remain switched on all the time - In an ideal world we would have got him at age 27/28. Ultimately I believe we are dead right in refusing to pay whatever Napoli want - simply he's not worth that much.

60m+ is about right in the current market but hey, it's not my money. I have a feeling that the so called leaks of bids for other alternatives is all about applying pressure for Napoli to act sensibly for once. I can actually see a deal coming for someone we haven't even considered as I have no doubt that by this time next week we will have a new right sided centre back.

Italian food is shite. It's the Beckham of the food world, a one trick pony that is vastly overrated.....

That’s not been my experience, in fact the food in Italy has probably been some of the best that I’ve ever experienced. My personal favourite has been venison in Italy amongst others. Some of the Italian pastries from from the bakeries freshly served at 5/6 in the morning has been out of this world, and the ice creams from the parlours just amazing, the thin pan and variety of pizza slices from the pizzerias makes you realise the trash they serve at Pizza Hut and Dominos. I’m feeling hungry now!
