For all the talk of Kompany he actually didnt play as much as people think during last two title wins.

We coped without him because of Fern in midfield.

We missed him in midfield last season.

A huge mistake by the club not to get a similar player in.

The only reliable defender the dippers have is Van dijk, the others - Matip/Gomez aren't exactly top cb's, good yes but not top quality like laporte, van dijk. Laporte is our VVD, There;s a reason why Klopp is trying to flood the midfield with strength and dynamism, that's where the battle would be won. We just need a decent defender to pair Laporte - Kounde, Denayer, Dennis (could also play as a CB), but THAT MIDFIELD! that's where we need runners, fighters, pitbull types like dinho in his prime! I love the look of a midfield with Aouar or Partey, this would provide the much needed energy and dynamism we have been lacking, even Bentacur would be an improvement on gundo, much more mobility and fighting to win the second balls . Chelsea, Liverpool and even the rags have all strengthened their midfield with combative players, we are really lacking here, not sure why everyone thinks we need to splurge all our money on centre backs.

I would take Ndombele over Gundo/Rodri, Mourinho's cro-magnon brand of football is holding Ndombele's potential back, footballers just don't go bad over night, the talent is still there, he thrives on free attacking football not that Jurassic shit football Mourinho is known for.
