Kalidou Koulibaly

Ignore what he costs mate that's for the press to beat us with we can never win.

He won't cost me or u a dime.

Sure, it won't literally cost the individual fan, but it costs the team. Because $60m spent on 1 player has the opportunity cost of spending $60m on another player. Plus, still surprisingly, we are not a club that buys ready-made marquee players (with the exception of perhaps Mahrez)

I know what u mean but with FFP kinda relaxed City can afford to spend big. We need to sort out that shite defence an if Koulibaly is the man to do it then I wouldn't be bothered if he cost us 100m we'd get stick from everyone no matter what anyway lol

Just get him in City. If we get stick for paying too much, guess what, we get stick no matter what we do.
We can blame liverpool and united for inflating the CB market.
Anyway, even if we pay £90M he’ll look like a bargain next to Maguire.

Maybe the way Pep plays requires more ready-made players at the back. He’s obviously not the best at coaching defenders, but Pep sure knows how to play in a creative way and arrive in the final 3rd. He improved pretty much all attackers in this team but you can’t say the same about our defenders.

Having someone like Koulibaly coming in could have a similar effect as the one Virgil had on Liverpools defence. And you can’t put a pricetag on that. We’d have at least four seasons of a superb Koulibaly (29,30,31,32) but he could be immense til he’s 34-35.

I’d be very excited about our CB-options going forward having Koulibaly, Laporte and Aké. All three are fantastic options. I still expect Stones to depart though.

I'd pay whatever it take to get him. The rewards from winning titles and CL quarters are immense.

Ake and Laporte sounds good but what if one gets injured. Harwood Bellis sounds good but you can't expect him to be ready next season, and there's an act of faith there.

We need 3 players imo:

Priority: centre-back, defensive midfield
Next priority: left-back.

He has pace, tremendous leadership quality and can organise the defense. Those are the things we need the most. Forget cost and age because we're not a selling club so I couldn't care less if he has any resale value or not. Give us 3 great years and if that's it then perfect. Anything more is a bonus.
We need a leader. Koulibaly has always been rated as such. He's multilingual, always plays for the badge, always gives effort even with the shitshow that was Napoli this year.

We have not spent nothing yet If u add in the sane sale if we sign koulibaly 60m auror 40m should still leave another 100m to invest in other areas as most players will be brought in on 5 year contracts so outlay will be 40m per season over contract length. Hope that 100m goes on a halland or Martinez

Are we really after him? Because that bloke on twitter saying yeah Silva be signing for Lazio in the next day or two when in fact he is clueless fcuker.

Look easy to back track
RT @FabrizioRomano: Real Sociedad hijacked David Silva deal! Lazio had a total agreement on a three three years contract and medicals scheduled in Rome. Real Sociedad contacted him secretly. Lazio are furious. Done deal. #transfers

100M is not enough for Haland. It'll probably be enough for Martínez though.
But I'd rather spend those 100M on a 50M LB and a 50M DM.
We have Agüero and Jesus. Next season, when Kun leaves, we can buy a striker.

exactly. In all honesty I wouldn’t be against a CB talent like Upamecano but the problem with those types is they will take at least a year to adapt to Pep and the Premier league, maybe even 2 years.

That means we waste Agüero’s last year, De Bruyne’s prime years, and Pep’s final years at the club probably.

we need someone to come in, and be ready to play and play well immediately. Koulibaly is someone who offers that, after years of CL football and years of playing a similar system under Sarri.

At CB, we need an immediate impact not a talent like Stones was that may or may not reach his potential. If that means we have to pay £20m more so be it.

There is no right or wrong time to invest in a new striker. If they are available this summer then we need to act as if we don't, someone else surely will. I'd like us to wait till next summer and go big for Haaland, but Martinez will be available this summer it seems so that might force our hand of we think he is Agueros long term replacement.

I agree, but I'm not necessarily sure Martínez is available. He has a contract until 2024 with Inter and they seem to have enough money to keep him. And Barcelona, who seems to be the great contender for Martínez, is out of cash.

I stated this quite a few times but for me the plan would be:
Summer 20: Don't sign anyone, Agüero and Jesus will do.
Summer 21: Agüero leaves, we sign a lethal old striker on loan (Vardy?).
Summer 22: We sign Mbappé for free (obviously start the charm operation to bring him as soon as possible).

If Mbappé is out of the plans then:
Summer 20: Don't sign anyone, Agüero and Jesus will do. Sign a CB, a LB, a DM and a CM.
Summer 21: Go all out on a striker (Haland seems like the only amazing option).

Vardy to Mbappe and no money spent, now that is wishful thinking. I like it, but it just isnt happening. Anyway, more than anything i hope we sign a top class CB as thats the key position this summer and if thats Koulibaly then great, but im looking forward to seeing Upamecano tonight against mbappe, neymar etc as he is the one ive been most impressed with.

We'd obviously pay a big loan fee for Vardy (like 20M). I'm not saying it's happening, just that it would be my number one plan.

Yeah, tonight will be interesting. I'm a big advocate for us to sign Upamecano instead of Koulibaly given the price tag Napoli is putting on him.
I'm also curious about how Angeliño will do against Mbappé.

Bit harsh, how on earth could he know that David has had a last minute change of mind in literally the last 24hrs.

Vardy? fuck me. If that happens im not watching it.

As for Mbappe, not a chance in the world PSG are letting him go in 2022, he is the poster boy for the Qatar world cup.
