Kalidou Koulibaly

I really don't want to go into next season without signing another cb.
Me either with Garcia saying he wants to leave but if it's the choice between Koulibaly at £60-70m or nothing, I'd take nothing and wait for someone else to come along who does represent better value for money.

I'd be even more worried if Garcia stayed tbh.

I think that money is the going rate for a player like Koulibaly.

If we didn't get him I'd pay a lot, for the 2nd choice because the only current cb I'm truly optimistic about for next season is Aké.

The others are all currently below par & in rehab imo.

To shift the perspective just a little bit I'd like to remind
that our "mess" of a defence just conceded 2 more goals
compared to the world's best defence of the PL w*nner over 38 matches and less than any.other.PL team.
Two points in resonse.

Look at when we conceded soft goals and how many points that cost us compared to dippers.

Look at how many of the dippers‘ goals against were conceded once they were on the beach.

I think Ake is a better player than Koulibaly, we only paid £40m for him. A similar right footed CB would do me just fine, if not then we go with Stones, Adaradiayo and Harwood-Bellis.

The Stones experiment is over. He isn't good enough, we've not had a consistent season out of him. Ake is brilliant imo but hasn't proven it. Koulibaly has. He's a leader for club and country, we're paying for everything he brings in terms of experience and leadership.

I don't see the other similar option personally though & would have thought we'd be all over it if it existed.

If Stones is staying, I'm happy to try & reboot him bit don't trust him at all & imo the current version of Laporte is left footed Stones. Both need to start again from scratch & prove themselves imo.

With no real pre season, we have no opportunity to trial Tosin or THB.

Ake plus one, is a good crutch for both Stones & Laporte imo.

I'd love to agree but unless we get someone else in then the Stones experiment will continue whether we like it or not. If we don't match the price Napoli have out on Koulibaly and we don't have an alternative, then what would you suggest?

To be fair no one mentioned Ake until very recently, players are there but we're not scouts, so we can't be expected to know them. If there's not currently a viable alternative, then we wait until there is, in football nothing takes long, someone will stand out eventually.

Whatever we do that cannot be an option. If not Koulibaly it has to be somebody, with one of the other 3 as a back up.
Hopefully so, however there doesn't seem to be any suitable alternatives according to most posters, so what choice do we have.

An alternative is absolutely necessary. There is no way we can rely on Stones who's behind Garcia in the pecking order and a CDM that will turn 36 in the upcoming season. We'll pay whatever we have to to get Koulibaly, our seasons applications rest on getting a reliable right sided CB.

I think that moment arrived two seasons ago.

Behave, no they don't, pure amateur dramatics.
