Kalidou Koulibaly

Fern has dropped off big time imho
Big gamble never paid off imo, he had a handful of 8 out of 10 games but more average with some stinkers at CB but we missed those legs in midfield without doubt, we now expect his last season to be in & out with possible cup games & when Rodri & Gundo are injured or rested
Trying to fit those 3 in if we sign another CB will be Peps hardest choice this year

Possibly.

But nothing on this is coming from City.

So, even though I believe we are taking a huge risk if we don't sign a cb, I can't whinge about this deal, as all the news on it, is coming from that ****, in Italy.

City may have set their stall out weeks ago & be looking at other players, for all we know.

I think that is exactly the case

we will have multiple options and none are yet off the table

We have a couple of weeks left of the transfer window - things will get done.

People saying that the Messi chase is a distraction are just panicking - they obviously have little faith in our highly experienced execs and team to be able to multi task!

Fern is s till a better option at centre half than Ota however andStones IF he doesnt get his head right - a fit and functioning John Stones would be literally like a new signing compared to last season however.

There is also possibility of last summer repeat, we were in for Maguire, he went somewhere else and we did not pull up a plan B then Laporte got injured and we were fucked.

3 more weeks of transfer window, that is more than enough to to plan B if needed, but this haggling over a fee through an agent is comedy.

He’s 34 and been playing out of position!
I don't see the point of playing once great players when they are well past their sell-by-date. Some of them fade out gracefully and for others their legs seem to go almost overnight. Ferdy has been a legend but he is dreadful at Centre Half and it's not fair to play him there. Nowadays he needs to be bench player who comes on for occasional cameo performances.
My worry with Koulibaly is that he has not done enough to force the move. If he doesn't want to play for us then let's not waste any more time with him. It has dragged on too long already. We need to be ruthless in improving our team. The days of City being a soft touch should be over by now.

Zinchenko’s agent about Zinch being included in the Koulibaly deal, could’ve said something like ”Zinchenko is going nowhere, he’s happy at City” but he didn’t. He revealed quite a lot with that response, not necessarily that Zinch is leaving for Napoli but that he could be on his way out.

Anyone knows when Zinch’s contract is up?
I hope the club is working on a deal for Zinch to go the other way, because I don’t think Napoli will budge on their pricetag.

I agree I mean have we actually admitted we have bid for koulibaly? We will bring someone in who will be a surprise for everyone

My only problem is with the whole cb thing, as I said in the other thread.

We have known for years, it would need doing, by this time. Why are we involved in transfers now & why has Otamendi got so long on his contract ?

god I wondered what that moisture in the air was.
turns out it was the sheer amount of pissed pants in this thread.

Fucking hell!
Imagine its Derby Day. Or the day City go to Anfield. You think City's defence is equipped for that? If not, you should be p'ssed. It's September the 12th and professional football clubs maximise every opportunity they have.

With respect, the potential transfer of the biggest player in the world, on some of the biggest wages with all that entails, is bound to require huge resources and input and cause a distraction to any management team, no matter how experienced, it's only natural.

I am sure some of the team have always been working on our other transfers, but it would be naive to suggest our transfer window has been not been significantly effected by the Messi transfer.

Hopefully we can sort all our business out in the remaining time :-)

Its a mad transfer this, Koulabily will be pissed at both imo
Do we really need him because it looks like nobody else wants him
City have to be telling him to hang in there otherwise this would have ended weeks ago
Nobody knows what the fuck is going on but we have 3 weeks left at least but fuck me if we want him then pay it so he's here training & ready for Wolves

From what I have read we aren't haggling over a few million. Reports put us at 50m + bonuses and Napoli want 70m+. Quite a difference. I don't believe we have raised our price in the last week by over 20m and so thats just bollocks in the papers.

We will stick to the price we want to pay and if we don't get him we don't get him. If this signing was important then Pep would be hunting Txiki down to get him to do the deal. We did Ake with little fuss at 40m it seems so if we want to then we will.

I have faith in city's defence, we only conceded the second least at year, I don't understand the re-writing of history that our defence is shit reminder that we're consinstantly actually one of the best defences in the league, the stats don't lie.
it's a bunch of reactionary nappy shitting nonsense.

I'll toss you a bone, if we sell, Stones, Garcia & otemendi then I'll say the way you're acting is warrented. Until then have a bit of patient.

Nobody is in for him because everyone in football is reeling under Covid even Real Madrid, Barcelona and PSG.

I agree Marv but remember these transfers don't get paid in a oner, even English clubs pay it over a number of season unless the selling club demand it
Not 100% sure but I think English to English clubs its paid in 2 installments but buying from foreign clubs a deal could be paid over 3-4 years?
So deals even with Covid & FFP being relaxed can still happen
I guess depending on the pandemic coming back & no fans again is the problem?

I can’t recall particular games, but my memory is of him being a step down at both CB and CM last season.
