I am delighted we have signed another DM as it was definitely an area we needed to reinforce.

i confess I’m a bit baffled why a full international would choose to come in as back up to Rodri.

I’m assuming they will share starting duties and occasionally we will start with both of them.

Now, get a left back signed.

Especially with the season to come, the crunch will be very noticeable and if Pep plays to win everything we will need solid rotation throughout the team to avoid injuries with the World Cup making a mess of things.

Smart move imo. Needed back up for Godri, but think it'll be more rotation in that position rather than just to rest Godri.

Just read an article on sly sports about his stats and it’s hard to argue at that price this isn’t a good bit of business. I think he adds a bit of steel as well which is always welcome.

Hard to get too excited about a DM when the one we have played so well last season.

It's a weird one because we absolutely need another one, but anyone we bring in will be seen as either an attempt to replace Rodri (which we don't want because we love Rodri) or "just a back-up" (which isn't very inspiring).

But yeah, we need him. Can't hammer Rodri every match, and I think it would be good for both players' development to have somebody to compete with for a place in the starting line-up.

Phillips has had an unfortunate season in terms of injuries and playing in a disjointed, almost-relegated Leeds side (and in some ways an even more disjointed England side this summer). But he was impressive in previous seasons under Bielsa and I'm sure the club will be on top of any fitness issues at his medical.

Seems a reasonable fee, and he seems a decent bloke who by the accounts we're seeing really wants to be at the club.

Faith in Pep as always.
