Spring's coming and the rivers are rising, just wondering if there were any other kayakers out there

I tried rowing on the bridgewater canal in the freezing cold wind and snow a few weeks back. I felt a right numb scull...

If any of our rivers are free of shopping trolleys, it means they are owned by Lord Snotbag and his 40 gamekeepers and water bailiffs will shoot you if you do so much as look at them.

well if it helps waterways have no charge in Eire that i know of, like most of our nature reserves. plenty of destinations on the west coast of ireland. just major rapids are non-existent and are a bit tame in general.

The Spey in Scotland in October was fucking hard work freezing at night and some tough rapids but its Salmon season before. 100 miles in 4 days and camping wild. Amazing trip but we nearly lost some good men out there!!

Le Ardeche in France, much warmer less strenuous 75km in 3 days but water was low and a lot more civilised than the wild Spey trip.

Love Kayaking and want to get use of all the kit I bought 4 years ago before we went to Scotland. Had some crazy nights round the fire!!

great thing out here is that if a river is navigable with any boat, you're aloud to float and fish no matter who owns the property on either side. There are some rich assholes trying to get that changed but it'll be a tough fight.
If anyone gets a chance you should give it a try, it's an adrenaline rush for sure
