What a lovely bloke, and absolute legend.

Thats the best football article I have read from the Guardian. Brilliant interview.

Was going well until he asked Kevin the question about uae human rights issues. Fucked me off that has. Ruined a very good piece.

Why did he have to ruin it with a question like that. Do Liverpool players ever get asked about their fans or ties with standard chartered. Arsenal players about emirates or Rwanda. Leicester players or United players get asked questions about their owners or sponsors.

Uncalled for and pandering to fans of other clubs.
What was he expecting the answer to be.
Yeah I hate the owners and they are all murdering despots.

Stick to the football and his family.

Also ‘owned by the UAE’, rather than ‘majority owned by HH Sheikh Mansoor from the UAE’… its a bit more wordy , but is the actual truth, rather than the implied and inaccurate ‘state owner’

Yeah - I spotted that too, and it’s an unnecessary and knowing inaccuracy in an otherwise excellent article.

Personally I still read the Guardian on occasion for their content on politics and culture, despite the increasingly overbearing Americanisation across their entire editorial, but there’s a reason I won’t ever pay a penny towards them and won’t click on their sports content - because it’s lazy, poorly researched and frankly racist.

I made an exception for this article, and as well written and insightful as it undoubtedly was, it’s still marred by outright lies and a clear lack of balance.

It’s a shame, as they used to produce content worth reading like this more often. It’s like reading a Murdoch rag these days!

Thought it was a really good piece. Loved the bit about him watching games and shouting at the telly when our players fuck up, then when his Mrs complains he shouts at her! That’s my house completely. When City are on the box best leave me with it. Proves KDB gives a fuck and isn’t a money grabber blah blah Sergio was the same, didn’t matter who scored you could always see his delight, he also piled in when the coppers at Bournemouth started twatting City fans after that Sterling goal.

I was impressed that Simon Hattenstone goes to the away games, even if I could get a ticket which I can’t I would struggle to make time.
