KdB Interview in the Guardian

Also ‘owned by the UAE’, rather than ‘majority owned by HH Sheikh Mansoor from the UAE’… its a bit more wordy , but is the actual truth, rather than the implied and inaccurate ‘state owner’
Too sensitive. What he actually said is "Thanks to huge investment from its UAE owners, the signing of great players and arguably the best manager in the world, City have dominated the Premier League for the past decade." And then asked about human rights in the UAE.

I suppose the correct word would have been Emirati, rather than UAE, but its no worse than saying United have American owners.

As for the human rights question, i guess it has been made into a hot topic at the moment, and de Bruyne is intelligent enough to be able to answer it wisely. I do wonder if players of American-owned clubs will be asked for their views on the rights of minorities, immigrants, women etc ... when the next WC comes into view. Actually, no I don't.

Excellent article

I don't understand how people can let one tiny paragraph on our owners ruin the rest of the piece. It was a very mild question, and the article moved on quickly after de Bruyne's answer
A perfect example of fans being far too sensitive about things.

It happens everywhere in football nowadays for all clubs.

Ask a question with a slightly negative context and the clamour is on to cancel that media organisation.

A pundit says something slightly critical and they need binning too.

Heaven forbid a referee make a controversial decision. A dossier of decisions he’s made against their club will be produced containing all decisions against their team since 2000.

At some point in the past 20 years, football fans lost the ability to be objective about anything surrounding their own clubs. It wasn’t great before that, but nowadays any form of criticism cannot be taken.

I think AHT its a reflection of the way society has trended in general.

Those with dogma seem hell bent of defending it irrespective of other points of view and regard that as a personal assault and hence have concluded its the only view to have and descending view has to be crushed literally.

In my state if I could call it that anymore albeit this is not football related you are punished more now for a descending view that offends someone mainly because they crave to be offended than if you physically assaulted that person.

We live in strange times and your comment which I agree with you 100 per cent is just another example of this.

We don’t see eye to eye on many things, but the lack of willingness to have your opinion challenged is not a good thing in society.

Couldn't agree more AHT , If I got to know you a bit I mean not through this medium of course I reckon we would have a lot more in common that you think , I trust that doesn't offend you (LOL).

Because it’s unnecessary and not in keeping with the interview. There’s no point to it. He’s talking about football and his family.
It was a question just thrown in there to be edgy.

Obviously things that are more critical should be critiqued even more, so things like Anti-Vax and such the like should be far more scrutinised than whether Graham Poll gave City enough penalties.

I agree. I don’t really see much wrong with asking the question tbh, nor would I expect a similar question to a player for some of the clubs with American owners.

Thought he answered it well enough too.
