How does this buy back clause work then? At anytime we can buy him back for 35 m regardless whether Leicester want to sell or Kelechi wants to come back or anyone else offers any more?
No idea mate but would suspect that if/when they decide to sell him we get first dibs & the fee is £35m or whatever figure is in the contract!
He is their player so If they don't put him up for sale the figures don't mean anything.

I would have thought that it would be a release clause but perhaps with a time limit when it can be triggered. If it works how release clauses normally work, then it doesn't matter whether leicester want to sell. You might be right, but if it does not give City the right to buy, it's no use. £35m is quite high. Who is to say the market is going to keep going up.

I think you're right - just like a release clause except only for City. Only recent example I can think of is Morata back to Real, imagine it will be similar.

Remember reading when West Ham were interested that City wanted a 3 year buy-back clause, with the price increasing each summer.

Absolutely smart business to ensure the buy back clause (whatever the exact terms are) is included in the deal. This is the growing trend across Europe and helps to ensure if you sell a young talent that needs to develop you can still re-acquire that player if you desire. Perfect example, how brilliant would it have been if Boateng had a buy-back clause?
