Ken Barnes loses 67 year old record

I knew Ken quite well. He wouldnt have given two fucks about the record. And he would probably have used that language. Top man

I didn’t know him at all but he used to play bowls for my local at the time, The Lloyd’s in Chorlton. And he always seemed good fun and full of character, holding court at the end of the bar after they’d had a match.

Fair play to Justin Kluivert with his 3 penalties in a game but bollocks to the media with all their “first time in the Premier League” nonsense.
Football didn’t start in 1992

So Ken Barnes lost a proud record that had stood for 67 years.
Before today, only three others have scored a hat-trick of penalties in the history of English top-flight football. Ken Barnes was the last to do so in December 1957 for Manchester City v Everton at Maine Road in a 6-1 win.
Wasn't it 6-2? I remember Dave Hickson getting his marching orders as well. City were magnificent that day. I remember Ken's "tap" penalties, but I can't for the life of me remember who got the others. We had some really good wins that season and some hammerings as well. That's the season we sored 100 goals and let 100 in! I saw every home game though I don't remember them all! Great days. Thanks for the memory!

Well thanks for that, you have made me feel ancient. I was there that day and if I remember correctly they all went in the scoreboard end. Another thing I think there was a low turn out possibly because it was just before Christmas. How can anybody say we do not have history.
Name the Everton player sent off in that game, one for the FOC .

I saw Ken Barnes play for City, alongside Big Mal. Someone on Bluemoon might be able to figure that one out? Not easy, though!
