Kestrels

Motorway embankments are vital corridors of habitat for small prey mammals like mice and voles, so it stands to reason that raptors hunt in these places. The focus required to acquire such prey from height to the exclusion of the traffic sights and sounds is truly astounding and just shows how nature adapts to human interference.

Nice thread with no arguing. Surprised it's not been pulled!

There's something awe-inspiring about predators that are perfectly built for their job in life. Falcons, cheetahs, greyhounds, pike...the list could go on.

There is a gif doing the rounds of an eagle trying to snatch a child, but it may be fake. The still image below isn't fake. Full article

This picture shows the shocking moment an eagle tried to carry off a small boy at a bird show in Australia.

Off to Mull back end of March, early April after a 3 year gap. Just love to see the sea eagles glide into view over the mountains or the golden eagles. Plus theres so many other birds there, saw my first cuckoo on Mull, I can hear the buggers in the Derwent valley but never spotted the buggers. Great place if this is you,re thing. Then back to Tobermory and chat to indie rock stars.

There's a fella employed by the NHS who goes around in a van with this hawk (think it's a Harris Hawk) and then walks around the hospitals with this thing off his glove and in the air. Apparently it's one of the best and most natural ways of keeping the pigeons and their dirt away from the hospitals. It doesnt need to attack them, just to fly around! I was at Wythenshawe when my mum was bad last year, and watching this bloke walk around with this hawk doing its thing was pretty special, a nice distraction from a sorry time.

I've been watching southwest florida eagle cam, on and off for the past week, two eagles have two eggs and are about to hatch within the next few days, its fantastic when one brings some food back to the nest.

The best thing about Florida is watching the bald eagles, couldn't be arsed with the theme parks, put a water pump into a bald eagle enclosure once with them in it, they don't like you invading their personal space

One of my mates does that at a lot of the major stadiums around the county and on land fill sites, it's a good business model as it needs regularly repeating

Unfortunately I bought a new iphone at the end of the year and it won't download my photos or videos.......however today I had a pygmy owl attack and eat a sparrow on my window feeder. Tore it to pieces looking into my dining nook

I've just got an 8 week old Patterdale terrier and he's already trying to bring down my 8 stone rotty. Cracking little dog.
