It hasn't sunk in yet that he's left the club. When it does I'll feel a bit sad. Probably the best time to leave but Kev asked for a year extension on reduced salary and didn't get it which he arguably deserved. Anyway, it's done now and we can only thank him and wish him well.
Although we all know and appreciate how immense a player he's been I don't think we quite realise how much so yet. I'm gonna go off on a tangent now with a few analogies and there's a reason for it.
How many times have you been watching a match thinking "Aguero would have scored that, or Yaya would have ran through the middle like a raging high testosterone bull shoulder barging players like knocking over skittles to the unleash another match winning thunderbastard". Been so many moments in games we've needed a defence lock pick wizard and we had one of the world's very best in David Silva. So good in tight spaces coming out of a scrum like situation with the ball glued to his feet before a clever deft pass, which was often an assist. It had me thinking "wow, how the fuck did he do that"? He did it so many times we became used to it.
We became used to Kev spotting things most players were unaware of. He'd just glance his eyes and then execute a split second 20 yard through ball to lay it on a sixpence. He did that often and his split second decision of knowing what to do and how to do it were his best attribute and he had most if not all attributes of a truly world class player.
And the reason I used those analogies was we don't miss something or someone until it's gone and they're gone. like me I'm sure you have those special memories of special players and Kevin was a special player very special. That special that he's often regarded as the best player we've ever had or the best player the Premier League has had. Not just by us, by pundits and fans of other clubs. In his last home game it was commendable how many Bournemouth fans stayed through the after match celebrations clapping him when the could have been traveling 250 miles south to their homes, that's respect and appreciation for a very special player who has recently left the club.
Like I said It hasn't quite sunk in yet and when it does I'll be thinking "Kev would have spotted Halland was in space and put it on a plate for him". He'll be remembered fondly for many years and his statue will always remind us of so many great moments over 10 seasons, just like the Kompany Silva and Aguero statues do.
It's Bern a pleasure watching special players producing special moments of magic in recent years. Club legends who make us feel proud of them and City. We've been blessed my fellow blues and so fortunate our fortunes soon changed since we were bought out.
I've just read(again) his leaving message. I got all emotional and teary eyed tbh. Kevin De Bruyne has been a truly great player and model professional many people in world football respect and appreciate. Thanks Kev for everything you've done at the club and good luck to you and family wherever you next go to.
