Tuned into the press conference unaware of this so that was a shock.

I really thought he'd stay another year, don't see anything close to a better option from the bench for 20 minutes to change a game than even a half fit kev the only question was whether he was okay with that role. Also think pep has misused him this season, needs to be used in small bursts not full games.

He'll be sorely missed but I can respect the decision to call time, hope he can stay through the summer and captain us through the club world cup. Lifting that would be the most fitting ending we could provide and hopefully this news gives that extra motivation to give kev one trophy lift as captain before he's done.

One of the all time premier league greats if not the greatest, a unique talent and will forever be city. Not bad for a reject. Enjoy your impending dodgy statue kev. You deserve it.

That's a big shout, remembering Merlin and Colin Bell.
I know. But everything ran through him in a team that won everything, set every record, and were not just the best City team, not just the best Premier League team, but arguably the best team in the history of English football. I was watching a video the other day about another player and a 'big chances created' stat popped up. Kev had something like 4 of the best 5 seasons in the Premier League era.

Sad day. I hope he plays a significant role in the CWC as a fitting way to end his career at City. He gave us his best and we should be grateful

Gutted, but he's an intelligent guy and knows what levels he's at. Fair play to him for not allowing things to drag on. He was a huge player for us in what will be, the most successful City side ever. Thank you KDB

:-(

Association Football science personified is KDB, literally a work of Art in motion, not honestly seen anyone else read the game n execute meticulous moves n actions for all around him such is the unselfishness he possesses.

An absolute class act n an hard act to follow.

Worthy of way too many accolades to mention and personally the Greatest Of All Time to represent City ...unequivocally.

Wishing nothing but success n prosperity in all his future endeavors, in and outside of the beautiful game.

:-)

End of an era. Thank you for everything and good luck KDB! It was a privilege to see you play, those memories will always remain in my heart.

I am so disappointed but he has to do what is best for his family.

Come on Kev give the PL hell for the next few months.

I will miss him very much. I can't believe how quickly his decade has gone with God's Own.
I know scary that isn't it - seems like the blink of an eye.
Best wishes to him and his family in their next chapter - whether that be Saudi Arabia or the US which appear his most likely destinations.
You've left us with fantastic memories sir and like others of your ilk will be forever welcome at God's own club

Favourite moments:

- Winning the ball and teeing up the perfect assist for Gundogan to win the league against villa
- That game against Stoke. The assist for Sane was sublime, but was a monster the whole game
- In the treble season, equalising against Madrid in the first leg, enabling us to dominate at home
- Assists, like against Newcastle, where he'd cut through three or four players

City's best ever player
That goal by Gundog vs Villa: Kev was the first to react when the ball ran loose in the Villa box, he took control and cut 6 or 7 Villa players out with his run and pass…tap in for Gundog. Brilliant.

Seemed somewhat inevitable, but still hits pretty fucking hard.

A quite utterly astonishing footballer.

It's a pointless activity, yet I can't help but think what his numbers would have looked like if not for some horrible injuries.

All the best, Kev.

Edit: I posted before reading the message. Fuck me. It just got a little bit worse.

A genuine City legend - his departure adds even more emotion to a weird season. We'll need to get the chequebook out in the summer too.
