It will be sad if if it all ends acrimoniously, but I still think the club have made the right decision. I think he could have still played a bit part role next season on a lower wage, but I guess that wasn't really an option. Just hope he gets the send off he deserves at the end of the season.

The KDB decision has to my mind been heavily influenced by the overall injury position at the club. The writing was on the wall a couple of months back when Pep said we need players who can play every 4 days. Much as I love KDB, he can’t anymore, and truth be told, nor can Stones and Ake. Pep does not want to run with a huge squad, so the regularly injured players become too much of a liability, both in terms of the squad and the finances.

Funny that, having spent the last 3 or 4 transfer windows publicly inviting offers from Saudi and saying it would tempt him.
And claiming that the club did not have "formal talks" with him, what utter gash.

I think the club would have been happy to offer a new deal on considerably less money/ pay as you play deal but I get the feeling the player wanted to keep his present salary, even more so with big offers from the MLS/Saudi.

He wants one last huge pay day, NO issue whatsoever with that but we are not a charity, this version of KDB is simply not worth anywhere neary 350k a week, it would be madness to offer him that.

I think this time next year the dippers could regret offering van dyke and Salah huge deals at their ages, time will tell.

Yeah, Pep cut a hugely frustrated figure in his pressers pre Xmas, telling all they would see when he has his players back, that never happened (it actually got worse) and then he switched it up to, we can’t have a squad that carries so many players who are consistently injured.
I’d support the club going nuclear & cutting KDB Ake Walker Grealish & Stones, with Bernie Kovacic Ederson/Ortega possibles too. If it’s gonna be a rebuild let’s do it properly, we’ve been unfortunate with all the injuries and loss of form & fulfilment in the squad happening in one season, but I see that as a positive moving forwards, a chance to clear the decks, get a few more of the academy involved, and purchase some world class talent

I wouldn’t disagree - but it’s gonna be very expensive to show the door to all those players except KDB who is out of contract. All will be loan deals with City paying most the wages.

We already have the highest wage bill in the country so can’t see there is much room more signings if we can’t sell.

Viana has come into a car crash created by Txiki and Pep. Ageing squad who almost all to a man have time left on inflated contracts. Lack of academy introduction and big trouble with home grown quota for next year. And a mind boggling January window where most of the signings seem in the cold already.

Not finishing top 5 will be make it even harder.

We have 3 centre half’s injured yet Reis can’t get in the squad and is wandering around the Trafford Centre on Match Day.

Complete mess.

Nothing like the mess you're describing not even close, most of the players that leave will be sold ,for small fees. We will finish top 5 bring ing 3 or 4 very good players to add to the 5 that arrived in January. No problems with homegrown quotas. Next season we'll have a much younger fitter squad. Can't wait to see what we do next.

Who do you think is gonna pay a fee for players earning £200k per week for players that have been injured most of the season with a year left on contracts.Absolute fantasy. They ain’t going anywhere until contracts are up unless we settle or fix loans.

Then there is the 4 new signings you think will arrive - I would note Reis Echeverri and Bobb can’t even get in the squad now despite 5 first teamers being injured.

And great that you think top 5 is nailed on. Unfortunately I’m not as convinced.

O○-

A few fools on the internet projecting their sad lives into hateful comments are irrelevant

The ovation he got against Palace and will get at every remaining game leaves him in no doubt how beloved he is by blues everywhere.
It’s not about how loved he is but whether or not it’s the right time to move on, imo it is.

Living up to your user name there

All the players named will get offers, not big fees perhaps, but if the plan is to get them off the wage list then I don't see that being difficult.

Not sure Mahmoush and Nico are in the cold? Reis was bought as on for the future (the clubs words not mine). Not sure about Khush tbh, some wild tale going around that he called Pep a shampoo when he meant to say champ too, and Pep saw his arse. But this is 99% certainly bollocks

The Prophet of doom for a reason.

What I don’t understand is that if we spend another £200m in the Summer in a similar fashion to our January spend - then we are gonna be struggling for top 5 next season.

Why bother buying Reis and Echeverri to have them shopping at weekends. Echeverri has not kicked a ball in any game at any age level since he arrived. Pointless.

Khusanov can’t get a sniff whilst we have 3 centre half’s injured.

As for getting rid of players - who is gonna pay a fee for Grealish and his £300k per week wages. Who is paying £250k per week and a fee for Bernado. Who is paying John Stones £200k per week. Who is paying Walkers wages. Clubs know we are fucked trying to shift them and will start making low ball loan offers in August with City paying huge chunks of wages.

Personally I'd like to have seen Kev on a reduced contract playing a Modric type role. I understand that people think it's time though. A matter of opinion.

I guard against a huge Swales/Allison clear out. Evolution rather than rash revolution. So I'd keep Bernardo and Gundo another year with the latter hopefully joining the coaching setup.

Where’s this highest wage bill in the league from?
