This.

All else aside, it is time.

Everything else, is just pure sentimentality. And naivety.
It was bad enough watching Yaya and Daveeed drag themselves through their final season with us, playing one season too many.

Pep has explicitly said this season he needs players who are fit and available to play. We need new fit top class players who can play every 3 days.

I don’t believe he has 2 or 3 years left at the top. I really wish he could have and if he did I’d love it to be in the sky blue of City. I’d like him to stay and do what he can as often as he can but I don’t think this is the best of Kev, that’s gone unfortunately
Agree, in his current role he's not got the legs to consistently perform at the level he has over previous years, that said give him a deep lying role we could easily get another 2/3 out of him.

Less running, he's still got the fight/spirit in him to protect the defense, whilst spreading the ball all over the pitch- got to be worth a try surely.

Looking forward to it if I’m honest.

I’ll drive him there myself.

The one thing it would do is put to bed this 1960's idea that players have to be loyal to one club or indeed that they are loyal to one club.

I just hope we don't become like an abusive ex partner like the scousers do if it does happen and treat Debruyne like an ex partner who moved in with someone with a smaller knob and be done with it.

Except his passing has also been quite poor this season and he's never been great at the defensive side of the game (apart from pressing). I just can't see him in that role to be honest.

David went on to play at a high level in la liga for a few years, Kev could benefit from the same playing abroad.

The premier league really is levels above for pace and physicality. Gundo was Barca’s best midfielder last season and did well in the euros.

Look at Mkhitaryan for Inter the other night, Kev could do a few years in Italy no bother.

Pep took a hit for the club this season. I have no doubts about that.

At the end of last season, he kept saying it, 'we see Arsenal's challenge and we accept it. This young team are building a challenge, and we will be there'. He had hinted at refreshing the side quite a few times, over the last two seasons. I fully went into the summer expecting fresh faces and some of the senior players to move.

We ended up signing Gundogan, and Savinho who effectively replaced Alvarez.

Now I do get the club's position here, Txiki coming up to retirement, Viana in the pipeline, the 115 case at the stage it was habging over the lot, the need to bank some money for the next guy. And ultimately, a bunch of players coming to the end of their contracts that have proved themselves previously. But Pep has openly been saying what he thought was needed.

This whole 'I made a mistake this season', yea sure mate. He is just playing his part, and shilelding the club from criticism.

Plus they acted in the winter window and signed young players. It is coming in the summer window too, and it starts with Kev. And rightly so imo. Why risk another season. I expect at least another senior player to leave too.

Yep - Fernandinho and current Gundogan are further sobering examples of players who hung around for one season too many.

The reality is his contract is up this summer, whereas both Bernie and Gundo still have a season to run (and Kova has two).

All will leave at the end of their contracts (unless we can find a buyer) - and Kev just happens to be the first on the list.

Personally I’d rather we got rid of Gundo ahead of him, but unfortunately the contracts are the way they are.

I wouldn't be surprisd if Gundo chose not to trigger his extension. Might still stay, but I could see him moving into management rather than playing again as much as he has this season.

So who leaves instead? And how do we force that to happen when they're all under contract? Someone's got to go to make room for the legs and energy we desperately need in midfield.

City's decision about Kev isn't personal, it's business. He just happens to be the first of 7 or 8 players who will leave when their contracts expire.

Or the next of the previous 7 or 8. Including greats like Zabba, Vince, Yaya David, Serg, Dinho, Gundo.. and Demichelis.

Each time there were people that thought it was the right move, and others that thought they could still hack it and should stay. The club has often proved to be right, and that will be the case again this time.

There's been some weird posts on here over the years, but this has to be up there with the weirdest.
