If the reports of him accepting 100k a week elsewhere are true it seemed a no brainer to keep him. Plenty I'd rather see go before him.

A lesson to be learned when extending contracts in the future.
No matter where else he goes and how well he does, we got the best out of him. He is beyond compare and it beggars belief that he missed 142 games. Heaven knows how many more goals and assists he would have added.

This really feels like the passing of a torch.

He is the last player who can remember what the first team was like before Pep joined. And maybe the greatest of them all.

I think this represents more than just Kevin De Bruyne, but right now that’s less important to me than thanking him for giving me a decade of happy memories to cherish forever.
