Kevin Keegan diagnosed with cancer | Confirmed as stage 4

Very sad news, my thoughts are with him and his family. Part of City folklore no doubt.

I was actually about to type about how he brightened football for me in my teenage years, then I realised I was actually in my 20s during his reign! But I guess that is just how he made many of us feel. Keep fighting until the CS Kev if you can, we'll belt your name out with pride.
 
He was one of my heroes growing up, along with Peter Barnes and Dennis Tueart.
I didn't get rivalries, City/utd aside, and he was captain of England. He was a 70/80s superstar.

So when he became our manager I 'loved it'. We saw great football and a man who understood us fans.
He will always be a legend in my eyes.

I hope he keeps fighting, but mostly I hope he can enjoy the precious time he has left.
 
He ensured we didn't lose the final derby at Maine Road, won the first derby at CoMS, gave us a mesmerising, enjoyable 2001 season where we were crowned Champions of the second tier, the FA Cup game against Ipswich, the FA Cup comeback against Spurs and only wanted to see us keep pushing, keep growing, sadly finances prevented us from doing so.

He was honest, wore his heart on his sleeve and overall I cannot complain about his service for us.
Say what you like about the original King Kev, he's certainly been one of England's most memorable personalities.

Awful news.

Echoing what others have said, he was a breath of fresh air when our manager. I loved his attacking mentality and desire to outscore the opposition. He was an absolutely brilliant player, a fantastic manager and genuine guy which is evident from the fact he's universally loved.

Wishing him all the best and hoping that his treatment can work miracles and help him survive.

City need to make sure they honour him next season, invite him as a guest and let us fans give him the praise he deserves. Once a blue always a blue.
 
I’ve had a KK related email address since he was manager.. that will be my tribute to him…

I sometimes get emails that start “Dear Kevin” or I get asked if I’m a dipper or a barcode

I’ve just never got round to changing it

Keegan’s tenure made me start believing again we might actually moving forward as a club. The football City played in the promotion season was something else and then when we came up we started going after players like Nicolas Anelka. He even brought European football to the newly opened City Of Manchester Stadium where we managed to qualify through the back door for fair play.

Will never forget how we played the rags off the park at Old Trafford with the likes of Berkovic, Foe and Nicolas Jensen playing triangles round them in a game we should have won towards the end.
