Khaldoon's End of Season Review 2025

Because I still see you quoting the same nonsense in about 15 different threads, Stones we can agree to disagree on and the fact you can't respond to many valid points about him shows you are just a bit deluded when it comes to the man.

In regards to crying about Khaldoon saying this is a new City and a couple of weeks later we lose, again I don't think anyone can explain it to you anymore that nothing changes overnight. You construct long posts with several points and when somebody comes back to you on them points you fail to respond to anything. The season is over a month away, the transfer window is open, there will still be more changes to come mostly out and possibly in. Strap in for a bumpy start but the signs are already there that things are getting better.
Defensively we are awful. Nothing has been learned from last season. One ball over the top or 2/3 quick passes and the goalkeeper is left 1 v 1. Until that stops, all the good vibes and new players will count for nothing.

You can’t concede the way we do every single game and win.

You say nothing has been learned but what was you expecting in a couple of weeks? All last season we was slow, boring to watch. We scored a sack full of goals here and actually are more exciting going forwards, that is off very minimal time. Let the new players settle, lets get a right back in and let the new coaches work with our style and defence. We have always got caught by one counter or one quick ball, we just used to retain the ball a lot better and have pace in Walker to recover at times. We also have a keeper who doesn't like saving shots at his goal. We need to give a good 10 games or so of the new season, probably more to implement what we are trying to do. If people think we will sweep everyone away then they are bonkers

I know what I watched last season and it shows no signs of stopping. It’s a major problem.

Yes, and then you watched some games only a couple of weeks later, with changed sides each game after minimal time with their new coaches and teammates in mad weather. I feel like I am going mad but what was you expecting? They didn't have a full pre season, go away and then weeks to work on the new ideas and changes, it was pretty much instant? Why are people so shocked?

I’m not shocked we can’t defend that’s the problem.

This is a new start and I expect the team of this quality to not concede goal after goal game after game.

Don’t care about any excuses/reasons.

The defending is an issue pep and his coaching staff need to sort out pretty quickly or next season will be a waste of time.

Don't care about reasons? So you are demanding we improve and we improve instantly or you aren't happy. Christ.

Do you remember Khaldoon's comments on the Club World Cup?

"This is a very very serious competition. I can assure you we are going to give it our best shot. We're going in their to win it. This is the beginning of a new season, not the continuation of the last."

£80m spent and nothing has changed. We are completely reliant on Rodri, and without Stones we can't defend.
Complete reactionary statement from you here. He was never going to say, "yeah we've not got a chance of winning it" was he? Plus, changes made to any team are rarely immediately impactful. Patience is needed from everyone, players and fans alike.

Yes I demand we stop conceding the same stupid goals game after game.

What is the new coaching team doing?

Don’t see an issue with saying this. It’s been allowed to carry on for far too long.

For 1 season - where we finished 3rd - after winning 4 league titles in a row.

It'll take 1-2 years to build back to where we were. It's not an instant fix.

Our brilliant players of the past are older & moving on, while the younger players will take time to bed in.

The error we made was not starting the rebuild a year earlier.

Relax - No fan in the history of English football has had it better than we've had it the last 9 years.

If we was 10-15 games into a new season then I would completely agree. You can say you aren't happy with the goals being conceded but you cannot also ignore reasons and logic behind it. The new coaching team is getting to grips with the players at their disposal. With a manager changing the lineup each game during that club world cup. I am staggered that even on here people like you and Marvin thought all of our problems would have gone away two weeks after our worst season in years. That is absolutely fucking madness. Pull your knickers up.

Spot on...and if se do go into next season without it being sorted, the attack are gonna have to outscore what our decence conceed

And then that could cause issues in the dressing room if they cant

What are you on about haha
You need to post at least 10 team selections every game. Endless post about Barms/Muffins or players that have never played for us. On the match day thread you need to slag players off for the slightest error then call the the GOAT when they score two minutes later. You will have course have to give up a lot of your time for this.

PS I only wrote this as I have posted less than you ';-)

Best be a midfielder, you get to slag our defence for conceding so many goals to balls over the top and also slag our forwards for missing so many chances

I am relaxed but I expect the team to stop defending like a bunch of amateurs. That’s it.

I am not ignoring anything. The stupid counter goals have always been an issue but last season it became farcical. Against Juve at times and against Al Hilal the same issues were still very much prevalent.

Until we stop conceding goals at an alarming rate then I will stop expecting.

Understand the frustration. Some of it I'd put down to new players and new partnerships being developed, which can take time. We know from past experience that players can take 6 months to get what Pep is after, and we've potentially got more players than usual going through that learning curve.

I am concerned at how we set up at attacking corners though, it really is asking for trouble if we dont leave one (at least) back at halfway. New coaches now though, so maybe things will change in the next couple of months in that regard.

I'm afraid so as well. Any half competent manager in the PL and CL, and there are plenty of them, will see what is going on and know two banks of five with a couple of speedy forwards in the front bank will have the edge on two centre halves in the opposition half looking forwards. They will have at least a ten yard start whenever we lose the ball by the time the defenders react, turn and get up to speed.

It's not difficult to correct. Play the centre halves ten yards further back and let the attacking players loose, possession be damned, or just don't lose possession. I am guessing Guardiola will choose not to lose possession so often and will turn Cherki into Grealish. He is a stubborn bald bastard. I am not sure it will work.

But maybe I am doing him an injustice. We will see soon enough.

Action-reaction. You may think reactivity is an insult. It isn't although you may deem it so. Observations are important. I was responding to a poor performance that reminded me of Khaldoon's words, "This is the beginning of a new season, not the continuation of the last." This jars with me because the June window, that Khaldoon had in mind, only partly addressed weaknesses in our team, therefore the remark was unwise.

Recently, Khaldoon admitted that in the Summer window, the club was not aggressive enough. By the January window, it was evident that City had a long term defensive crisis; Stones and Rodri had significant injury problems with the team conceding a lot of goals. Pep responded by changing our tactical approach, and in the January window we bought 3 young defenders in Khusanov, Ries and Bah. We also bought Gonzalez, a flexible midfielder. That window was unusual in that these were players were not ready for the first team (their collective number of 1st team appearances proves this). In the June window we addressed our attacking potential. As we look to 2025-26, the contribution we can expect from Khusanov, Ries, Bah and Gonzalez is uncertain. We are very dependent on the recovery of both Rodri, from the most horrible of injuries, and Stones, a player who has had many different injury problems. There is more uncertainty than there should be.
