King of the Kippax | Last ever edition (p 20)

I had nearly all of them in the loft at one stage. Ended up on a massive bonfire, along with many other treasured belongings, when I made the wrong choice of life companion
Made me pull a box out of the closet and go through a bunch of old KOTKs, rugby league and Belle Vue Aces programmes and a Cup Final community songsheeet.

Which fanzine used to have the spoof letters to the MEN in it?

I remember one that proposed merging all the Greater Manchester teams as "ManStockUnityBoltBuryDale" in a bid to win the title after many years of failure - the response iirc correctly was "I wonder what EverLiverMere would say about that!"

Made me laugh at the time!
Pretty sure it was Blue Print with the spoof letters page.
The real "Pink Thinker of Sale" became "The Pink Stinker of Sale"

We had "Gardner's World" too, highlighting all the errors Peter Gardner had made

Lots of perceptions above with facts and opinion here about fanzines. All to be commended. BTH and Noel was from Royal Oak, Wythenshawe. South Manchester near me. Fanzines have always provided a lasting record in print unlike the internet. The exception is MCIVTA from the earliest days of the internet in the 1990's and still going strong. Subscribe for free.

Forums and social media are transient catering only for the moment.

I have continued to subscribe to KoTK and others because they record a lasting snapshot not just a moment in time. Long and thoughtful articles to digest including financial analysis from the likes of Colin Savage (PB)

I recommend others do so now as it is the last survivor, subscription only. Use it or lose a great resource.

That was in one of the early issues of Blueprint.

And I think the full name was ManStockUnityBoltBuryOldDale.

As I said I bought them all. It was weird that you could almost guess where people were from by the fanzine they bought or wrote for. KoTK, Bert Trautmann’s helmet and Chips and Gravy seemed a bit yonner/north Manchester, the former always seemed to have loads of musical references to irrelevant old hippies like YES and Roy Harper. Blueprint seemed more south Manchester, Borrows was from Didsbury iirc and more in tune with our humour
We were indeed blessed as we had 3 really good ones -KK, BTH aka Electric Blue and Blueprint. I worked down south for much of the 80’s and 90’s and these helped me keep in touch with all things blue at a time when you would get literally nothing at all in the press and definitely the southern press.

Agree totally and have personally subscribed to MCIVTA for many years as well as KK (Manchester City Information via the Alps is the full name IIRC on the back of it all starting via a Blue exiled in Switzerland)

I used to publish an end of year journal for my running club. It was time consuming and a struggle to get content and photos together. Full credit to King of the Kippax and the others for all their efforts.
