Kinkladze - just how good was he?

He can divide opinion between City fans but for me - prior to the current crop - our best player of my generation. He had his best years with us too.

He did play in sides that got relegated but purely on the skill, balance, poise, artistry, and football brain he was sometimes unplayable and a complete and utter joy to watch in some of our darkest days.

Go on YouTube and have a nosey, he was that good.

Thanks for the memories Georgi.

He had his best years with us but unfortunately we had some of our worst with him. He was a magical talent, when he got the ball you were on the edge of your seat but did go missing for long periods.

His goal against Southampton I had the fortune to witness and there were numerous others that stick in the memory, like one against West Ham in the cup.

He possessed all the skill in the world ... never really a 'battler' , but still a player of immense ability , although for some reason he never quite realised his full potential , and his spell at City was probably the best he enjoyed in his career.

A wasted talent really , but unforgettable ...

from wiki ...

In an interview in August 2007 Kinkladze's former international team-mate Malkhaz Asatiani confirmed that Kinkladze had finished his career and settled in Moscow. Kinkladze later worked as a sports agent, and in August 2011 returned to his former club Anorthosis, where he was employed as Sports Director until an amicable departure in June 2012

Not sure if it was a bit, to much to young, great talent but I'd always have Ali B in front of him, I should change my username

Right player wrong time nobody would reach full potential along side Ged Brannan.

Hard this one, but I'm sure he could do a job for us now (Sub for Nasri)(or)(Silva when injured or needed resting), very left footed though! We have to move on from the past. David Whites pace would destroy any current fullback in the Premier league, not sure he's as fast as bale or lennon but there again he may have been faster. Different age and times!

It's hard to compare then an now

One of the best, there's not many players to have played the game that could look as good in a team so bad.

If he had left sooner I'm sure he'd have gone on to be a football great, training with the best taught by the best we would be comparing messi to him, instead he stayed was badly managed and ultimately got lazy.

I may be viewing through blue tinted glasses but I was young at the time and that's how Il always remember him.
