Georgia is the oldest wine-producing country, with evidence of vinification dating back 8,000 years. Archaeological discoveries in Georgia, including ancient pottery fragments with wine residues and grape pips, confirm its position as the birthplace of winemaking. Its ancient winemaking traditions, including the use of the traditional Qvevri clay jars, are so integral to the country's identity that they have been recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage
