I don't really understand why no one has mentioned this guy. I haven't even seen him linked with anyone in Goal.com. Genuinely dumbfounded by it.

He scored 48 goals in 47 games for Shalke 04 last season and he has a £17million buy-out clause. Also I doubt he earns over 60k a week at the moment so I reckon we could pay him just under 100k.

I know he hasn't cut it at top clubs so far in his career but he seems to have matured lately and plays a bigger part in build-up play than he used to.

I'm not saying we should definitely go for this guy but surely he's been looked at?

Only put off for me is that he does remind of Dzeko and he hasn't exactly hit it big time for us yet has he.

And I know it's difficult, but please don't be swayed by his performances for Netherlands, we all saw how poor RVP was.

I like Huntelaar but as Jumanji said he isn't right for how we play, same with Mario Gomez. They are both poachers with limited mobility, we need players have great technical ability. Someone like Benzema (I would say Ibra too but there's already one Ibra argument going on) would be perfect to partner Aguero I think but we ain't getting him.

I think he is settled at Schalke, and after his moves to Real Madrid and AC Milan, I don't think any of Europe's top clubs will be interested in signing him

Well he could cost £2million but he still won't fit our current system well. But to answer your question, Roberto Soldado would cost under £20million and suit our style better than Huntelaar. He isn't as good a finisher as Huntelaar but it doesn't really matter, players like Huntelaar and Gomez would be smothered and crippled in our system, our strikers have to work for the team instead of the team working for them. We've seen Dzeko struggle and he's a better overall player than both Huntelaar and Gomez (IMO of course).

Oh yeah I fully understand your point about him being smothered and it's kind of what I had at the back of my mind when creating the thread hence my sentence about his similarities with Dzeko but I just wanted to put his name out there.

Yeah there's been many players in the past few seasons who have had a one off and performed exceptionally. But to me huntelaar has been around too long to be considered a top class striker who we need in our team. Not only as mentioned before he just wouldn't fit into the team, theres far better forwards out there who are playing in their prime that should be considered first before him e.g. Llorente, Falcao, Benzema
