Knob or nob?

I understand that the correct spelling in cribbage is, " One for his nob. "

It wouldn't be first time I was wrong though.

Knob as in "that ex-husband of mine is a right knob"
Nob as in a posh bloke.

Seem to think that nob might be a contraction of nabob! I shall research and report back!

Indeed!

A nabob (pronounced /neɪbɒb/) is an Anglo-Indian term for an East India Company servant who had become wealthy through corrupt trade and other practices.[1][2][3] It also refers to a conspicuously wealthy man who made his fortune in the Orient, especially in the Indian subcontinent.

Nabob literally means "deputy governor" or "viceroy" in the Mughal Empire rule of India. This title was later adapted by British vassals in India, such as Bengal, Oudh, and Arcot.[2] [4][5][6]

So, when re refer to a person as a knob (or nob) I presume we are essentially calling them a dick etc,

Why then do we call a dick (penis) a knob? I hope it's nothing to do with shape, as there's some very weird shaped knobs in the B&Q/Wickes catalogues.

How is that funny? Tell me.
If you're sad enough to spend as much time on here (the forum in general rather than just the cellar or an individual thread) as me, you'll find plenty of spelling mistakes Therefore the concept correct spelling is quite humourous.
You disappoint me Jim, I fear you may fold under questioning!

Have to be honest; I completely missed your reference. Now go home and get your fuckin' shinebox!

There's some bloody weird-shaped knobs dangling out there!

Anyone that spells Knob, nob, is a knob.

The end of your knob is designed like a doorknob so that your hand doesn't slip off and punch yourself in the face. Fact.
