Would he improve our first team significantly? I'd really like us to sign Pogba, is Koke as good/better or are they a totally different type of player? He's not another slow as fuck sideways passer is he?
This lad is the business and would be a great addition to the squad. Only trouble is the asking price and the other suitors.
Release clause is £43.5m and would be good value because he is world class at the age of 23, like Pogba (different type of player, Koke arguably what we need more). But as always the will of the player is important. He's fiercely loyal to Atletico and they have something good going. Worryingly, it's Chelsea linked more with him than us.
I think Koke would be a perfect fit to us as he has the work rate and technical ability you really need in the centre of the park to win things. I've said on other threads that when looking at how to replace Yaya there isn't really one player to answer that question. No young player in the central midfield role offers the ability to run a game and score a lot of goals a season. Koke provides the workrate and ability to run the game, Pogba provides a bit more drive going forward. We could change the system to get Yaya's goals and drive going forward through the likes of Bale/Sterling/De Bruyne and could play Silva in the no.10 role. I think he could combine really well with Koke in the centre and Fernandinho could also blossom alongside the two of them as Koke will match his workrate off the ball and I think we are yet to see how influential Fernandinho can be buzzing around the midfield further forward...
In the CL he shows how composed he is on the ball and can quickly beat a couple of players, get his head up and pass it on and then join the play in the box. You know you're going to get a lot of commitment off the ball from Koke and that's what we need in the CL. I'd add to that the fact that both Koke and Fernandinho are very quick at knowing the situation around them. They don't take three or four touches, they read the game and as soon as they get the ball they know what is going on further forward and get the ball to the right man quickly, identifying the space. If we add pace to our attack that will lead to a lot of chances and goals.
