Kolarov (merged)

When kolarov broke into the box yesterday about 88mins, I sadi he deserves a goal for todays performance, then he got man of the match. It was obvious zab and kola were gonna be used today because they have no wingers and it seems that kolarov is a better player when his pace isnt used and he isnt under pressure. The amount of time he had on the ball yesterday allowed him to show his talent, clichy is a better overall defeder and he can react very well under pressure.

Re: kolorov stats.

Every 90 minutes Kolarov gets 0.125 goals, 0.375 assists and creates 1.375 chances
Every 90 minutes Silva gets 0.218 goals, 0.524 assists and creates 3.278 chances

Premier League only.

City are also scoring a lot of goals from free-kicks and corners. And the delivery of players like AJ, Silva and Kolarov is very important to us.

I don't have access to the stats now,but I think I have read that City have scored more goals from corners than any other team. if that's true, I'm sure that a large part of that is down to Kolarov.

Before this season there were two players who in my opinion got too much undue stick on here. The first was Gareth Barry, but the tide seemed to turn just before Christmas and it now seems the majority appreciate him for the crucial role he plays. The second was Kolarov, it's taken a bit longer but browsing through this thread it seems the general opinion of him is improving.

I'm really glad because I've always thought he was a really good player. He struggles against pure pace but apart from that I think he's a much better defender than he gets credit for. One usual criticism is that he's out of position too often; but it's hardly surprising given that he spends so much time overlapping and pretty much playing as a left winger and when Barry plays on the left side of central midfield he usually provides cover, so for me it's not too much of an issue. Yesterday I think he won every aerial challenge he contested, including a couple I didn't think he deserved to win.

I'd play Clichy against top teams who will genuinely try to play football against us, or any team with a very pacey winger, but Kolarov against teams who are intent on parking the bus. For me we have two full backs who offer everything we need between them.

the bolded part is out of my understanding mate, we can agree or disagree on anything , it's normal i think . what really i can't understand is why the hell should'nt i be impartial ??
You should be impartial but I don't think you are. I think you're biased towards players Mancini has signed because you're a Mancini fan more than a City fan. I am a City fan and only think about the interests of City. I like Mancini, more than any other manager we've had while I've been alive, but the end of the day if he leaves I'm staying right here. You've followed him here because you like Mancini. I don't really understand that but I won't judge you for it but what it does mean is that I will always think that you're letting that get in the way of your judgement. What it boils down to is that if Mancini had signed Richards and Kolarov had been here before Mancini arrived, you'd be saying Richards is the better player.

if i was biased , as you say , towards players signed by mancini i shouldn't criticise AJ like i do , or i wouldn't rate barry more than milner , or i wouldn't rate kompany as our best defender , or i shouldn't criticise hart (mancini's keeper choice) as i often do. but at least with your post you are letting me free to give my opinion about kolarov/clichy (both mancini signs)or about aguero/dzeko (both mancini' signs) .

on a side note I would like to take this opportunity to tell you that even you know the future and therefore can not know if in future I will be still a City fan.

I'm not sure. If bias is coming into play towards Mancini players, I would think Mancio would favor Richards as he's really blossomed under Mancini much like Balotelli.

No real horse in the race though. Still happy over yesterday. :)

Have to say the boy gets a lot of stick but I am not sure I have ever seen any player at City in 20 years who could put the vicious pacy balls into the box he does. Ultimately today when Silva, Johnson, aguero couldn't quite beat the Blackburn defense kolarovs did setting up two goals perfectly. I would not play kolarovs in games where he is going to be 90% defending or would be up against top top wingers but in games towards the end of the season especially at home his ability to put in balls at pace that can't be defended could make all the difference. I also reckon all round and as a footballer he is a much better player than given Credit for and he has weapons a squad need!

I really dont see where all the "Kolarov is a bad defender" talk is coming from?

He is NOT a bad defender. He does get caught out of position occassionally, and does not have the top pace for EPL - but he is far better tackler (once locked onto the player) than both Clichy or Richards for that matter.
He is fearless in duels.

If he was a terrible defender he would not BE at Manchester City.

He is just different type of player from Clichy. Diversity is good (as shown vs. Blackburn). End of.

The biggest thing is when he does get caught out and there is plenty of space for the other side to get in there and create a chance. I personally just feel more comfortable with Clichy and his pace to put pressure on the player if he gets caught out.

It's great having both to be honest, but both are for different style of games
