Kolarov 'own goal' reversed

Watford's goal was not an Aleksandar Kolarov own goal but a goal for Watford's Ben Watson.

Odd that a corner made people think it could not be on target in the first place, but a correct decision.

Odd though that they changed van Anholt's goal for Sunderland against Villa to a own goal. A shot clearly going towards goal that took a deflection and wrong footed the keeper. With the same logic Agueros first goal against Palace yesterday could be labeled as an own goal.

The rules are that it's not an own goal if the ball was on target before a deflection irrespective of the position of the keeper or anyone else.

There will be a few loons coming on this thread wanting the goal to be reclassified as a Kolarov O.G.

It doesn't matter obviously but it's plainly ridiculous.

Kolarov jumped up and headed a cross past his own keeper. It wasn't a deflection as such (Kolarov 'played' the ball) and most certainly wasn't a shot - 'on target' or not.

Own goal every day of the week.

They make it up as they go along. Van Anholt's goal midweek at Swansea was clearly going yards wide before the deflection took it inwards as was Fabregas's yesterday v Everton.

Both seem to be credited to the attacking player though.

They certainly do - own goals, refereeing decisions. I don't know why we don't stop at home and let them email us the results, goals and scorers, and how many people would have turned up had it been a 'proper' game of football!!
