Clichy had a great game against west brom and so did we in general so should we keep the team as it was or play kolarov for his extra attacking threat? I know we are all confident after midweek but i'm still not sure if we can afford to not play kolarov given the extra width he provides us

That depends, do Norwich have a dangerous attacking threat on his side? If so then Clichy has to play as Clichy can defend. We'll probably be on the back foot a lot as seems to be the pattern in our away games.

No.

Kolarov's attacking threat is severely over rated, unless you only take into account eye catching moments like a cross. What about the intricate attacking moves that Clichy contributes to, or the tight spots in midfield that he is able to extricate himself from because he is a decent footballer, where others might end up giving it away.

So, no, not in my view.

Mind you, I don't think his placement of crosses is anything particularly special so I might not be the best person to ask.

Yes but even the fact that he provides a serious attacking threat in the eyes of the opposition creates more space in the centre for the rest of our players and he is more likely to create a goal than clichy. His freekicks are also a bonus

Anyone who knows anything about football can plainly see that Clichy is a very competent LB, and quick.
I am bewildered, with City's purchasing power, how Kolarov got a place. I shudder when I see him on the team sheet because I know where the attack will come from.
I want him on the bench for the rest of the season, he has cost City too many goals.
If I was an opposing manager I would select a quick winger on him, even if the winger was below par.
City have got a first class LB in Clichy...............Play him.

You are probably more correct than most.

I can see what you mean but he's just not good enough as a defender for me, he's always got a goal in him but at the same time he's always got one against him aswell

I don't want a change but i won't be surprised if Zaba, Kolarov and Dzeko all come in. Good chance of Johnson too.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. An excellent performance by the back 4 on wednesday night (granted, the Baggies were piss poor; Long spent more time on his backside than on his feet). Now, assuming that Norwich will carry somewhat more of an attacking threat, being at home, and seeing that Clichy is the better defender out of the two of them, it really is a no-brainer. An unchanged side, unless the bescarfed one brings back Yaya (if fit) for NDJ.
