Lets face it, if Vinny was a Red then SAF would have either not allowed him to go or he would have had strict instructions not to play (Wilmott the National manager would have also got an ear bashing!).

Lets not have bacon face as our manager template! Just because all the swampites lick his arse, does mean we should have the same style of management.

If he had aggravated the injury, why should City be without his services in this crucial period?
because he wants to try and play in a World Cup. Why should we have the right to stop him? If we want players of international standard we have to accept they will want to play for their country.

we pay his wages

The manager is pressing the clubs interests - that's his job. If Kompany was nearing fitness, I can understand their national teams desire to play him, and Kompany's desire to play, but playing for 90 minutes was pushing it.

Can you imagine the anger if he had broken down for Belgium? And although it is good news he's back, he will have had to get through a half a week training for City this week on top of that 90 minutes session, and I can guarantee you that City's medical staff would not regard that as ideal preparation for a player making his comeback after lengthy injury absence. You step it up slowly. You don't play 2 games back to back inside a week.

Did you not read my last sentence? We agreed to pay those wages knowing that he wants to play international football. The idea that club football is 'more important' doesn't hold much water for me. The level of importance can surely only be gauged by the individual player involved.

-- Sat Mar 30, 2013 2:21 pm --

The managers job is to get us results surely? If he thinks the best way to achieve that is to publicly explain his frustrations with his captain ten go for it Roberto but I seriously can't see how it helps.

I agree with Mancini on this one. It seems as if he was to report to the national team base, be examined and then return to City. The fact they then deemed him fit and played him for 90 minutes is irrelevant - it was against the clubs wishes. Lets face it, if Vinny was a Red then SAF would have either not allowed him to go or he would have had strict instructions not to play (Wilmott the National manager would have also got an ear bashing!). Vince was in very good hands with Lieven Maesschalk who is probably one of the best physiotherapists in the world. He knew he could play and the defense never had that much to do anyway.

And if you think the club, Mancini or pretty much anyone else could stop Vince from playing for Belgium than they should check why he initially fell out with HSV bad enough for HSV to sell him to us.

Subbed as a precaution as strains like that go when you're tired.

I thought he was OK today, but his long passing was wayward. Did well for the goal. Lescott had a great game alongside Kompany
