Huge miss tonight, we missed him alot, i think zabs and ireland played very well, both of them ran a marathon again and never stopped, but at times the midfield was slighly over run alot, ireland didn't have the freedom of getting forward like he wants, he did once or twice and we were wide open in the middle, not his fault but i think kompanys presence was missed, i hope he's back for the Chelsea game,

Well done to stevie and pablo though, both played brilliant and had a big part in our performance.

Yea I said we missed his presence in another thread, he's been the most important player for the team this season IMO. Evryone out there did more than enough, but it will be great to get Vinnie back in the side for the return leg. Him and Zabaleta in the midfield should be able to absorb most of what they've got to offer

I have to disagree and thought we played well within ourselves tonight. In Europe you are playing against teams with a lot more technical ability and has such have to play more with the head than the heart. After all this team beat Deportivo home and away.

We did miss Kompany tonight, aalborg were picking the ball up in a few occasions in that hole that Kompany usually fills, but Zabaleta as usual had an outstanding game.

Dont agree at all. Zabaleta (again) has proved what a versatile player he is by playing DM but, for me, he did no better or worse than Kompany and De Jong. Kompany is a good player and fantasic prospect but isnt yet at the level that we should miss him when he doent play (like Vieira/Keane etc.).

I can accept that playing in europe is different and that we did play with a little caution and more on the break but I do agree we did miss Kompany big time . Mainly because the other central midfield player ( not Ireland of course ) was so poor.

I think you have to praise Elano for his performance.. i thought he ran his socks off which ive never seen him do! At one point they were playing around him in a triangle whilst he ran in a circle! He had a good game as well as all of the team did!

Yerr I saw that to and although he did'nt get to the ball he got a big cheer for his efforts.

Elano? Didn't have a great game at all really but I don't think he is the type of C/M we need, definatly more of a free role type player.
