Kompany

If you have videod the game I would suggest you go back and watch it and focus only on Elano. Then you will see a lost player who only managed a couple of good touches in the entire game and was bailed out by fantastic efforts from Zab and Ireland.

i thought Hughes got it spot on tonight... Ireland has turned himself into a CM engine this season, he gets stuck in, tracks back and has the ability going forward to open up opposition defences... he can score spectacular goals but lacks the consistency in front of goal that an inform Elano can bring to the side.

I'd see Ireland as a long term CM player, especially once we get Petrov back; we'll have much more balance and natural width allowing Robinho a true free role behind the striker.

Also, De Jong, Kompany, Zabaleta as a midfield trio doesn't bloody work! De Jong/Ireland/Elano would have much more effect imo.

A lost player? As most of the team Elano played well.. he chased the ball down alot so you can't question that he has upped his work rate, I feel he's realised he needed to up it to get back into the first team and I felt that tonight he did just that. Not saying he will in the next game he plays or that he has in general, just saying that tonight I thought he played well. As well as getting booked for complaining as they constantly played their free-kicks 5/6 yards ahead of where the foul took place!

Huge miss tonight, we missed him alot, i think zabs and ireland played very well, both of them ran a marathon again and never stopped, but at times the midfield was slighly over run alot, ireland didn't have the freedom of getting forward like he wants, he did once or twice and we were wide open in the middle, not his fault but i think kompanys presence was missed, i hope he's back for the Chelsea game,

Well done to stevie and pablo though, both played brilliant and had a big part in our performance.

I HAD THE VERY GOOD FORTUNE To sit next toNige Vinnie in the box next door they are top ninjas

I must have seen it all wrong and I do not want Elano out at all. I think he has played much better of late and when he played against Villa in his best position he was very good. Tonight his tracking back and tackling was so poor I was amazed he was kept on the field.

I suggest again to anyone who has it videod go back and watch just Elano. He wasn't good going forward tonight but defensively he was a liability.

Rubbish - Elano put more effort in tonight than he has for most of the season, probably why he lasted the whole 90 mins and Gelson wasnt brought on as usual (thank god). I stated on another thread he ran around none stop after the ball for about 30 seconds none stop, getting rousing applause from the crowd for that alone. Some of his passing was awesome, one to SWP really was top draw...

Im going to watch it 2mrw as i was at the game (want to see if i was seen on the tele : P! ) and I shall watch Elano and let yee no if you are indeed right!

missed him slightly tonight, but we would have missed him alot more when we play chelsea

on another night we would have had 6, defensive mid wasnt quite needed against these tonight

I thought Elano played well. Did what he had to excellently. Don't remember him giving the ball away, he chased back and challenged and put in a few good passes.
