We must keep this up if we want to win the title! Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany issues rallying cry after thumping win at Fulham
Vincent Kompany believes Manchester City must maintain the quality of their performance at Fulham if they want to win the Premier League title.
City bounced back from two 0-0 draws at home to thump the Londoners 4-1 at Craven Cottage on Sunday.
And Kompany insists City shouldn't now rest on their laurels.
'Everybody was delighted, the manager told us that we did our jobs well but the whole team put in a good performance.
'At half time we said that this was the standard we want all season, it’s easy to say it but we played well.
'We set a standard, can we sustain it? My opinion is that we can, but it will take nothing less than the same commitment for the next game.'
A section of City supporters booed the team off after their goalless draw with Birmingham, and the Belgian defender believes it is right that supporters voice their disapproval at times.
'We understand it when there are signals from the fans, they were not happy after Birmingham but we do our best every day. If we keep doing that, I am sure we will be alright this season.
'When you play in a team with strong individuals and characters, if you don’t win a couple of games then the team will be happy about it and expect a result.
'Our reaction on the pitch today was one of a team that wants to do better and is ready to give 100 per cent for our targets. We’re happy that it happened for us today.
'We have had some other good performances, Chelsea, Liverpool, even West Brom away. For us, it’s a question of keeping the standards that high for as long as we can.'
