Was thinking as a natural replacement for Scholes. They play a similar game don't they? Haven't watched too much of Bayern so I'm not sure.

Not that similar. Kroos is best as CAM, but has played in a defensive but only when they've had injuries. He doesn't play the passes that Scholes can play nor does he have Scholes' defensive intelligence in terms of nipping in and intercepting the ball. And he definitely doesn't have Scholes' knack of snapping some fucker and getting away scott free ;) Clasie would be a better replacement.
