Glad the cats have been removed. Needs a lifetime ban on owning animals. Deserves something much harsher but that's the most important thing.

If any good comes from this it'll be that he has to pay a large fine to animal charities and do a lot of community service work for them. But the cynic in me thinks he's done this kind of cruel thing before and won't be posting videos of it next time.

How many people harm or abuse animals? I think many people are jumping on their high horses here. That's exactly the problem. This was a professional footballer and an idol to many kids. Throw the book at him. Perhaps he'll be gracious enough to contribute some of his hard-earned to ensuring the RSPCA can cope with all the abandoned and abused animals out there. Or, he could eat a hamster and join the infamous Freddy Starr's success from that story.

I mean, on some level he may well be correct but it's the daftest deflection tactic I've heard and tbh just makes them sound daft as fuck.

No his argument is animal cruelty is animal cruelty. Whether its done directly or indirectly.
You can easily say the deflection tactic for meat eaters is its OK because they don't see the animal slaughtered.
Like I said, I accept I'm a hypocrite, others will put up all kind of weak arguments.

You do realise that you require evidence of this happening? The reason this prick has been caught is because he made it publically visible, for whateber idiotic reason they thought that was appropriate to do...

If I uploaded a video of me doing the same, I'd be tracked down and face a criminal sentence....

For example

A man has today (Monday 11 October) received a suspended prison sentence and banned from owning animals for life after pleading guilty to several animal cruelty and animal welfare offences.

Humza Saleem, aged 23, was sentenced at St Albans Magistrates Court to 23 weeks' imprisonment, suspended for two years.

Investigations were launched by the police after a pig was found to have been killed by a dog - the second such attack in the area. Police investigating the scene found a clean black designer wallet which had been recently dropped in a muddy field. Saleem was identified through items in the wallet by police and bailed pending investigation.

During the subsequent investigation Saleem’s mobile was examined which revealed thousands of disturbing images and videos, depicting animal fights, foxes and pigs being killed by dogs and dogs of a banned breed being trained on a treadmill.

Hertfordshire Police reported the case to the CPS who then authorised Saleem to be charged with a number of animal cruelty offences. Saleem originally pleaded not guilty but changed his plea at an appearance at St. Albans Magistrates' Court on Friday 3 September.
