Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini wants centre-half Kurt Zouma to solve his problem position, writes Alan Nixon in the Sunday People.

He is chasing a new defender, and the St Etienne starlet is available and can also play in Europe.

Zouma has been on the Blues' radar before – as Sunday People Sport revealed last year – and Pellegrini’s spies have reopened the dossier after being ordered to find a suitable player.

City’s top scout Gary Worthington saw the powerful 18-year-old, who also plays for France’s Under-21s, in action last week and was impressed.

Zouma is tipped to be a major player – with City keen to have him in those peak years.

Pellegrini wants a centre-back who can come straight into his team when called upon, with the Etihad side caught short when Vincent Kompany was out injured.

City are now weighing up a £7million offer as they start planning for the next transfer window
