Nastasic is the ball-playing CB, we need someone unafraid of bullying and scaring the opposition.

Or you can can have someone capable of both, a la Vinny.

That's the level we need to be at now.
Who would you suggest? Without spending silly money, I can't think of anyone close to Kompany.

The million dollar question. My knowledge of world football isn't great, but taking into account age and potential, maybe Mangala ?

I see Mangala as Vidic with pace. Very strong and athletic but not brilliant (not bad either) on the ball. Dominant in the air as well, which we lack from our defence (except Demichelis if we ever got countered after taking a corner it'd take him 6 months to run back).
Him, Vinny and Nasty would all work very well with each other.

Was reading some report on Rekik the other day and it seemed to think Rekik was by far the better cb with lots more potential to progress. Also made a point of stating that when Rekik returned from injury he was put straight back in the starting line up. I haven't watched any of the games he has played this season bar the cl qualifiers against ac but whoever wrote the piece had so maybe the better option is to do nothing and wait for our own player to get a year under his belt and then judge if another £10-15 million pound outlay is the right choice or just stick with what we already have. All things being equal I would rather Rekik if he is in the same bracket as Zouma.

Ps I now see I saw Zouma and got confused with Bruma. Ignore me sorry

Zouma was put straight into the 1st team at 16 and has been rising ever since at now 19 as St. Etienne's number 1 CB. He's outgrown St. Etienne while Rekik is getting started with his great year at PSV. Ideally Zouma, Rekik and Nas would be 3 top tier CB's of our future. MDM is short term and Lescott will be gone soon. Zouma also wouldn't command a huge wage.

Kurt Zouma's agent has already claimed the Saint-Etienne defender is keen on a move to Chelsea, and now the player has confirmed that himself.

Speaking in L'Equipe, he said: "When [Jose] Mourinho called me a month ago, I first thought it was a joke! It's a mark of respect and confidence.

"I loved Chelsea since I was a boy. I always play with them on Playstation. Blue is my favourite colour. If I'm told to go there, I will."
