Why is £ky News available on freeview but Sky £ports news is scrambled to non subscribers?
Would it not be a good place for them to advertise how great their service is, and the increased advertising rates would cover the cost?

No because for Saturday afternoon alone that chanel gets a lot of viewers.

They will see it as a pull to pay for their services rather than a promotional tool.

Do you not remember? It was only about a year ago. SSN used to be free to air, but they realised that it was so popular that they thought that by making it a sub-only channel it would spark a huge influx of millions of new subscribers, figuring that SSN's popularity would somehow be the tipping point in helping half the country to decide to throw in the towel and finally sign their livelihood away to Sky every month. I'm not sure it worked.

If you want cheap Sky...

Openbox S11
Skybox M3/F3

then get a 12 month sub with a cardshare server is £40

Really, pound and dollar signs? It's a bussiness, they can do what they like. Stop getting butt hurt because you're too cheap to pay for things and they realised it's too good a service to get free.

Not exactly, Sky threw a hissy fit and withdrew SSN from Freeview when the regulators insisted on SS1 and SS2 being made available on a terrestrial platform (Topuptv and BT Vision), the reason being that they make less money from terrestrial subscribers than from similar cable and satellite subscribers.
