I agree he can’t be as dominant against his winger because as you say, we don’t do much defending. So that’s why I asked...should he be playing week in week out in the Prem, if he is going to be ultra negative on the ball? Liverpool play against the same shite teams we play against and their right back gets double figures for assists every season. Surely if we have no defending to do, we don’t need a defensive full back?
Kyle Walker has been one of our best players this season, are we watching the same game?

Less a handful of dodgy games around Xmas over the past 2 seasons he’s been extremely consistent from day one

A class act

There are games where we have 80% possession and Walker feels like more of a burden than an asset. Then there are games where you need someone to make Eden Hazard look like a League Two player. Majestic tonight

spot on.

When Kyle is focused he’s one of the best right backs in the world purely because he’s an absolute wall defensively. Constantly shuts down world class wingers.

Agreed Walker on his game is a better defensive RB than Trent Arnold.

pep have before dani alves and philip lahm, but walker not so far behind.

Kyle Walker has been assured of his #ManCity future after a heart-to-heart with Pep Guardiola. The pair have become close over the past few months, and the player has been told his place in the starting XI is safe and there are no plans to replace him.

It's obvious pep gave him instructions v Madrid to be more involved central and he played it to perfection. His only problem I find is some of his short passing can be under hit and puts pressure on player receiving the ball and the odd brain fart but when totally focused non better in his position.

He might have just about played the player on in the lead up to the first goal but is guilty for not keeping up with Cornet when he fired in the rebound.

It’s bad enough when a full back in a flat back 4 plays a forward onside. It typically means there’s bad communication between CBs and FBs and/or the FB isn’t paying attention and has his finger up his arse.

For a wing back to play a forward onside in a 3-5-2 is unforgivable. It shows a complete lack of concentration and appreciation for what is going on around you. It means you are in completely the wrong position on the field and are generally clueless. Whether you apportion the blame to the clueless player, or apportion it to the manager who put said clueless player in that position is up for debate.
